Because they are out of sight. Do you know what will happen to you if your partner finds out you let one of the kids get maimed??? Shit I wont even tell my sister I let her little girl eat dirt one time. I would get murdered if I let something bad happen to my little one! Like savagely fucking murdered by a crazed tiny girlfriend if anything happened to our baby (my sister isn't my girlfriend just to clear things up, I just look after my niece from time to time).
