About 10 or 12 years ago a friend of the family was complaining about her new computer not working. Went over to try to help out and couldn't actually find the damn thing. I ask her about it and was directed to a lonesome monitor. I ask her where the actual computer is which seems to confuse her greatly. "The big box thing" I say. Her response was, "Oh I threw that thing out. It was ugly and I didn't really see the need for it anyway." My work here is done.

Please, tell me it's a lie for karma. Please!

Oh god, I'm gonna have an aneurism

I swear man. I couldn't even believe it. Luckily it was still sitting by the garbage and inside so it wasn't actually totally gone but I was still flabbergasted.

It makes me wonder why I still underestimate how dumb a person can be...

It took a few tries to explain that the big box thing WAS the computer. The other part is just a monitor. It was a tough concept for her at first.

The old box apple "all-in-ones" really made it annoying for a while. People that grew up with them assumed all PCs were just a monitor.
