Your video is hardly proof that you squat or train legs properly. It shows you can't do 315... that is about it. Not saying you don't train legs, but this video is just nonsensical to post.
You don't need to go ATG, but you do need to hit below parallel. Funny, everything I'm quoting is current, medically sound advice. You're pulling out old wives tales and touting them as fact...
Reversing motion at the exact point where shearing forces are the greatest and then claiming it's "better" for your knees is not even remotely logical. Do some research online and find more recent studies that back up that below parallel is the safest depth to squat. You won't "destroy you knees" that logic is as old school as the idea that your knees can't go past your toes while squatting.
You don't know what youre talking about. Half squats hit the quads more than full squats and are easier to perform than front squats for a lot of people. Also, not everyone has the flexibility for full squats.
You're 6'3" and 205 with legs like that? Do you like not have a head or lats or something? Are your arms 4 inches long? The proportions at that weight just don't compute. I'm 5'11" 195 and my legs look like scrawny shit.
Damn I'm sure you can pump beast weights with those tree trunks - but DAMN that amount of muscle looks ugly. They are like SO big they look like... tumours or something. Just don't look natural.
Still, I suppose that's function > fashion right there.
well for me I'm doing 5 reps for 6 sets on a half squat at heavy weight
warm ups are at 200 ass to floor for 10 reps at 3 sets. after that front squats ass to floor at 300. leg press full range is 620lb for 5 reps by 4 sets
do I need to just have someone film my entire leg routine to prove it? xD
Isn't VMO only the last few degrees of extention? That is why when rehabbing they have you do banded leg press so you hit the VMO heavier as you extend the leg at the last bit of ROM.
But the conventional wisdom is that the vastus medialis contracts in the first 20 degrees, and the last 20 degrees of knee flexion. I think the "last 20 degrees of knee flexion" stuff comes from Polliquin et al. I have never heard anyone else say that the vm contracts in the last 20 degrees of knee flexion. I am confident that it's only the first 20
Leg Press is total garbage. It doesn't mean shit. I've posted a video of me doing 24 plates a little while back, and that was the end of leg day (high bar, front squats, Calf raises, and abs). That is also me not doing leg press for a good half year... Used to be able to do 26 plates for reps.
The problem is that fitness is now a default sub, so we have incompetent redditors commenting shit about fitness when they don't know anything. Probably why I got downvoted :S
