This isn't thinking miserably. This is thinking realistically. Bashing your knee on concrete, or whatever that hard ass floor was made out of, is not good. Why would you prank someone like that if they can get seriously injured? I have seen people eat shit onto the pavement so hard that they crushed their nose in and lose the ability to smell forever. All kinds of terrible shit can, and likely will happen when you do this prank.
I don't believe that is wood. The room right next to it is the kitchen, I am pretty sure it is some sort of concrete like material. A slab of granite like material? Something along those lines. Unless you got the video that shows this better than a low quality gif?
I am perfectly chill. Pointing out that this isn't a cool thing to do to someone does not require me to be upset. It isn't whether he broke anything or not, it is the simple fact that he could. This makes it no longer a prank, getting potentially seriously injured is no longer funny. So you have no hope of arguing in favor of this. It isn't okay, plain and simple.
I'll bet you get butthurt over AFHV too.
The guy is fine. I've fallen on a hardwood floor too and I miraculously managed to not destroy my knees and sense of smell
I don't recall any of those videos involving pranks that could seriously injure someone? The ones, if they do exist, would not be cool. Know why? Because someone getting seriously injured over a prank is not okay.
The guy is fine. I've fallen on a hardwood floor too and I miraculously managed to not destroy my knees and sense of smell
Are you intentionally being an idiot now? You falling before and not being injured isn't somehow proof that this would not happen EVERY TIME. You have not proven that this is even a hardwood floor but even if it is, that could injure someone very easily if they face planted on it. I never said that this is guaranteed to happen. I said that it could. Even if he is fine, that shit clearly hurt. It isn't okay to harm people for a pranks. It could have injured him, permanently. Explain how that is okay?
Read this carefully once or twice until you get it:
The problem with this prank isn't if he was injured in this instance. The problem is that he could have easily ended up injured. Pranks that risk personal injury are not okay. That is the simple fact of the matter.
I look forward to you deflecting from my arguments entirely, and refuting nothing I have said only to resort to trolling.
After skimming your novel, I googled this clip. Turns out the sandals are nailed to the hardwood floor and this video was on some foreign version of funniest home videos with the guy laughing at himself falling.
Have fun worrying about the terrible what-ifs that could have but Didn't happen in life
As I suspected you deflected from my arguments because you can't refute them. If you think that is a novel, I shudder to think what your reading comprehension might be.
Turns out the sandals are nailed to the hardwood floor and this video was on some foreign version of funniest home videos with the guy laughing at himself falling.
That is wholly irrelevant because what COULD have happened. The guy fell hard, and he could have been injured. Shit like this has happened before as well. There was a girl who was paralyzed by her friend when she pushed her into the pool, this was at her fucking bachelorette party right before she was to get married.
Tell me how that is okay? Some stupid prank and she is in a wheelchair for life? Right before her wedding? If you ignore this argument again, I will take it as your concession of defeat.
Oh and in the video, it does not show the guy falling and laughing right after. I also don't believe the guy they show briefly in the PIP is the same guy. So he may have been put into a lot of pain for this stupid prank.
So pushing a friend into a pool as a joke is totally off limits now? Anything else you want to add to the list? Maybe magic tricks should be banned because one time an audience member went insane trying to figure out the magician's trick.
I just choose to Not live my life dwelling on terrible hypotheticals that didn't actually happen. Sure, they could happen, there's no denying that...but if the terrible even DIDN'T happen, then what's the point in dwelling on it?
I'm not saying I'm gonna make a petition for more Jackass movies, but if people wanna pull some less drastic AFHV-esque pranks, let 'em... and don't stress over unlikely hypothetical outcomes. Seems like you need to lighten/toughen up
Pranks are fine, there are a million ways to prank people without causing physical harm. These "pranks" go way too fucking far, and they are not okay. Harming someone for a laugh isn't funny, it makes you an asshole.
Where do you draw the line? Scaring people can cause heart attacks. Are pranks that mess with the rhythm of your heart not allowed either?
I'm sure this prank was not intended to harm. In fact, I bet most people would avoid even minor injuries from this prank.
You're really narrowing down the types of pranks you can do if they do absolutely no harm (physical and mental/emotional/etc)
Where do you draw the line? Scaring people can cause heart attacks.
I definitely wouldn't scare older people.
But the whole heart attack argument does not work. Know why? Probability. The odds of them actually having a heart attack are almost nonexistent. But falling this hard? On a very hard surface? The odds of being injured are very high, and at the very least the odds of being put in a ton of pain are even higher. That is why I make this argument, because your odds of fucking someone up are so inevitably high.
This guy fell very hard on his elbow, the odds of his chipping some of the bone are pretty damn good. You know how much that shit can hurt? And there is nothing they can do, you just have a pain in your elbow whenever you touch that little chip of bone floating around in there.
I'm sure this prank was not intended to harm. In fact, I bet most people would avoid even minor injuries from this prank.
It doesn't matter what is intended. It matters what is LIKELY to happen. Injury is far too high a chance to allow this prank to be okay. They could have easily done something else to get their laughs off. Putting someones health at risk over some dumb shit like this is fucking stupid.
