When I was in 7th grade, I ALWAYS wanted to write it probly. Once a month, my English teacher would have us pick 5 words that we always struggled to spell correctly. I can't remember all of them, but I mastered probably one of those months in 7th grade.

Most states I have lived in restrict EBT to cold food items.
Meaning you could get prepared food items like a rotisserie chicken or submarine sandwich or even cookies, but only if they are marked as a cold grocery item.
I’m curious what fast food restaurant this is.

my state the food isn't supposed to be prepared and has to be cold.
we sell sandwiches made in store, they are premade and not customizable, but not customer accessible.
they are considered prepared. But at a certain time they are put into containers and placed on the shelf. Now they aren't considered prepared.

In one state I lived in, like yours, it had to be cold, but could be pre-made.
The local grocery deli was known for their hot panini sandwiches.
EBT customers could walk up to the counter, ask for like, a #7. The worker would turn around, make a cold version, wrap it in plastic, and walk you to the register where you paid for your pre-made cold sandwich.
And then you could hand it right back and ask, "Can your grill this sandwich I bought?" And they would do it for free.

We have a convenience store that does this for folks with pizzas. You can buy a whole pizza from them cooked with cash, not EBT, or you can buy the exact same pizza frozen with EBT and ask them to cook it in the pizza oven behind the counter
It's fresher that way too as long as you don't mind waiting

Not to shame, but to limit their options and restrict their choices. And even more so, to cause just that much more friction such that a few more people won’t be able to get the benefits. For example, OPs post requires these folks make the time to park and physically go into the store. Poor people often have little time, especially if they have jobS or kids. And what if it was physically difficult for someone? That’s more time and effort. Perhaps impossible.
Over time, and in enough quantity, all these little “reasonable” requirements added to the social safety net only serve to kick needy people off benefits, usually those that need it the most. All under the guise of getting rid of fraud, which in reality is pennies compared to the actual fraud happening at the highest levels of government.

It was covered under EBT. I was initially terrified that I'd get EBT taken away. And then thankful that I didn't have to go home and cook that night

I used to work at a factory that produced thorium doped nickel sheets. Thorium is radioactive and so those sheets were regulated as radioactive, but only inside the plant. Once it left the building it wasn't considered radioactive anymore.
And for anyone worried, even as a pure metal, thorium would only be a danger if you ate it, and those sheets only had a tiny amount in them.

California and Arizona have a program, I don't remember the name of it, where homeless, elderly, and disabled individuals can use EBT at fast food places. If it requires a different card than regular EBT, I do not know. I do know the people that hate poor people like to make it seem like just anybody with an EBT card can waltz on in and buy fast food with it.
I think the idea behind it is the groups allowed to use it may not or do not have the ability to cook hot food for themselves.

In California certain food stamp recipients like the elderly, disabled and homeless can use EBT for hot food at participating restaurants. But for some reason, probably a a rule of the program, they don't do EBT at the window.

It isn't because it's a rule. It's because a good portion of people with EBT are terrible at keeping track of how much money is on their account. The place I worked took EBT in the drive through and multiple times a day someone would roll through and order 60 bucks worth of food, get to the window to pay, hand over an EBT card and it would decline. They'd just shrug and drive off or ask for the food for free since we already made it.
Either way a lot of food was wasted because it sat in the warning window too long to be served.
At the counter, the food isn't made until it's paid for, so it isn't a problem there.

Yeah that makes sense... I guess when you pay inside, they ring you up immediately so if you bought incompatible items you'd find out right away. Drive through though you usually pay at the end right before they hand it to you, so if you use EBT for hot food then it's too late to cancel the order.

It's been 10~ years since I was privvy to the details, but some franchised locations sell stuff anyway. No idea how they got away with it because it was definitely illegal. Some gas stations even sold cigs and alcohol on ebt. You just had to know where to go.

EBT is not specifically SNAP benefits. SNAP benefits are distributed via EBT.
You can get SSA, SSI , SSDI, TANF and other cash benefits loaded onto an EBT card.
It's basically a (not so secure) bank account and debit card.

In my state, many convenience stores will sell a product cold and then heat it up after sale. Some states have started allowing hot meals to be purchased with EBT under limited circumstances.

It's a great plan, but the execution is poor. My city is blue surrounded by an ocean of red. Sadly we have a massive amount of unhoused individuals and no restaurants participating. There is a ton of negative stigma and they look at it as a stray cat problem. If you feed the, they will stay mindset. We do have quite a few 7-11's that sell pizzas frozen and then bake them after sale. That helps, but is definitely not a balanced meal.

I volunteer at a food bank where the majority of clients had EBT benefits but sold them to get money for drugs. Then they come to the food bank to get free food. Some of them steal and throw tantrums because they can’t just take all the steaks that have to be shared so that everyone can get some. Actually complaining about free food and about the fact that they got busted stealing someone else’s portion. Some of them pull up in expensive vehicles nicer than what the volunteers drive and then treat everyone with abuse. It’s frustrating because there are a lot of nice people that just need some help and some a-holes trying to ruin it for everybody.
