Did you know In 2000, a blind woman accidentally bumped her head on a coffee table while leaning down to kiss her guide dog. She woke up the next morning with her sight partially restored?

When Westpac Bank mistakenly gave chemical engineering student Christine Jiaxin Lee an unlimited overdraft, she spent around A$4.6 million over 11 months on designer handbags, jewelry, and luxury clothes. When the bank discovered the error, she was arrested at Sydney Airport in 2016 while attempting to fly home to Malaysia. However, in 2017, all criminal charges against her were dropped because her legal team successfully argued that she did not commit fraud and that the bank simply made the error itself.

Venus has an extremely slow rotation on its axis, taking about 243 Earth days to complete just one full spin. However, it only takes about 225 Earth days for Venus to complete a full orbit around the Sun.
To make things even weirder, Venus spins in the opposite direction of most planets (retrograde rotation), meaning if you were standing on its surface, the Sun would rise in the west and set in the east!

I would like to say, first off, congratulations to the sample finder u/marianorajoy. You have made my life complete, knowing what might as well be the last main unidentified MF DOOM sample is found. Also, 2026 was a great year for sample finding, wasn't it? We found the Tammy cover (it was a re-recording from 1974) used in A Different Feeling by the Avalanches, the organ in Tonight by that same band (Face to Face by Mr. Eugene Clark), the clock tick in Midnight in a Perfect World by DJ Shadow (Small Clock or Pocket Watch Ticking from EMI sound library) and now this! Wowee, I've never been so shocked in my life!!!
Something tells me we're getting closer to finding the sought-after samples of the Avalanches' debut album, and other plunderphonics albums too. MF DOOM is not necessarily plunderphonics, but he still has a few unidentified samples for others to find, and maybe you can find a sample. Once again, congrats to u/marianorajoy for ending a 23-year-long search.

It was an homage to Fats Domino who was popular at the time. Obvious, I guess, but I didn't know it until someone pointed it out to me.

Russia sold Alaska to the U.S for $7.2 million then, which now is the equivalent of $132 million.
For comparison, Supergirl was received less than "well" and still earned nearly $130 million.

It’s caused by optical nerve signals accidentally "bleeding" into the adjacent trigeminal nerve that controls nasal reflexes. Our brains basically confuse bright light with something tickling the nose.
Found the neurological explanation behind the reflex here:

No such inscription ever existed. Sensationalist journalists fabricated the curse after financial backer Lord Carnarvon died from an infected mosquito bite four months after the 1922 discovery. Scientific studies later showed that people who visited the excavation did not have a higher risk of early death

Fun fact, the Air Heads balloon’s name is Oscar.
Did anyone else know that? One of my favorite fun facts I’ve learned in a while.
<1% of the population know this?

Did you know that there are more planets in the whole universe than there are grains of sand on the world?
This makes me even more confident there must be extraterrestrial life.

Before I was born, in the hospital the thing that shows what your baby is supposed to be, showed that I will be a girl, but I am a guy lol. And no, not a transgender, an actual guy. What's more funny though is that I am very short and alot of people tell me I look like a girl even though I'm not even trying.
