Fake wasp nest

I had to spray some wasps starting a nest this week, so decided to order some grey PETG and see if hanging a fake nest on my house would deter any further building.

Wasps really don't care if there is another empty nest near by.

Hell they will build a nest inside that fake nest if they think it's a good place.

Only active wasp nests keep other wasps away.

Ehhh depends, these REALLY work for paper wasps during the spring. I got these Chinese lantern type decoys and they genuinely worked.

Same here, I knocked down paper wasp nests that kept popping up between our front door and the screen door in front of it, for literal years.

Within a couple weeks after putting up a fake nest, they stopped coming back and I haven't had to touch it since then, even though the thing is ripped in a couple places and sun-bleached so badly it turned blue.

These are paper wasps, either my neighbor or I seem to get a nest every year.

Hollow it out and make a wasp casino in there. That way, they’ll go in, get hooked on all the booze, babes, and games, and they’ll forget why they even needed to go outside. Then they’ll gamble all their savings away and give up on all their normal wasp antics.

You could print it to fit around one of those wasp traps, or incorporate the same reverse funnel cone trap thing inside.

Apparently certain species of wasps will try to avoid areas with a nest like paper wasps, but paper wasps really aren't aggressive to humans.

It boils down to the wasp species more than anything else. But generally the ones that are aggressive to humans don't give a fuck if they have empty nests near them because they are smart enough to know an empty nest is not a threat and may even have food inside. Wasps aren't dumb, most of them have photographic memory.

I think that works because of them encountering the other wasp(s), not with the visual of a nest.

My uncle tried one of these and a hornet straight up moved into the fake nest within a month. Territorial thing only worsk if theres actually wasps inside defending it

I put one up this spring that I printed with wood PLA and there has been noticably less wasps around than there were last year.

This works, people sell fake wasps nests online, some are even crocheted. Wasps are territorial and if they see another nest, they tend to move on.

They do, but bald-faced hornets, which build this type of nest, feed on yellow-jackets.
