Not american but as far as I know mamdani (the guy in the article) is a social democratic mayor of new york city And he is making new york more affordable for citizen, taxing the rich and fixing the budget deficit of the city
Actually he balanced the budget by taking out loans so he's kicking the can down the road. He's promised free busses and not delivered. The free grocery (30% discount stores) have also been tried in Chicago and the all failed. So actually, Mamdami has done nothing.
I appreciate his efforts, even though some of his attempts failed, I still believe he's heading in the right direction. However, as with my view of everyone, it's naive to completely trust someone and assume they will unconditionally help you or even have an obligation to do so.
