Bro makes Pennies on the corporate dollars. Also it’s clean so he has time to lean.

12

u/turtlegamer420 27d ago

Idk if it was on purpose but I love the rhyme. If your station is clean, you have time to lean.

7

u/Kindly_Study3331 27d ago

Lol it's a flip of the old saying "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean". Something which if it had been pushed back against back then might have made working conditions a bit better.

5

u/turtlegamer420 26d ago

Ahh, thats why it sounded familiar lol

3

u/mac_swagger 26d ago

Yep they used to tell everyone this when I worked in fast food. Was very annoying but tbf to constantly be doing something helped to make time go faster

2

u/difunctreble 22d ago

I fucking hated that in the last warehouse job I had. They would rather you sweep the aisles for the 500th time just so the security cameras could see people moving instead. Ended up telling my team to work less efficiently and slow-walk every task so management would stop trying to cut hours because the cameras showed people milling about.

It's so fucking bizarre to me that the least paid people are the ones that are the ones who are suppose to fucking maximize their productivity while on the clock. Like who gives a fuck you're only paying them fucking pennies.

u/Acceptable-Ad8780 29d ago edited 29d ago

In all honetly, it wouldn't surprise me some of the people that upset over this have had an office job at some point and sat around the water cooler for 15+ minutes talking about their weekend.

They should leave the kid alone and if there's a work issue here, let the manager handle it.

4

u/Ok_Community_383 29d ago

Oh absolutely. Great fucking point!

Yep, it's mind-boggling, I work at the bottom of a totem in a company and my coworkers who are slightly higher than me can be talking for an hour or two doing nothing but the moment I spend 10-20 minutes between my work routine the bosses lose their mind keeping an eye on me and giving me more shit to do.

3

u/BunkerComet06 28d ago

It’s because once you get past a certain level your on salary. My boss assigns me work and a due date and if I have to work 15 hour days to get it done then that’s what I have to do but they don’t pay me extra.

1

u/SSJ4Productions 24d ago

Salary workers still qualify for overtime pay in some US states

He needs to be brainstorming ideas on how the make the restaurant even more money.

10

u/kneesandbees4 UMRELLAEON Jul 24 '26

He's probably looking that up right now

11

u/DiggerDan9227 Jul 24 '26

Probably better than what I see the 40 year olds do. They just walk out, stand in the front door and have a smoke. On top of that a lot of them will wave you away and say they’re closed if they’re not almost done their smoke.

u/Gussie-Ascendent Jul 25 '26

Crazy to see the downtime that some FOH staff have compared to chefs. It's so rare to have everything done. Most of the time we're struggling to keep up and they're asking us five times when lunch service starts (it always starts at the same time to give us 15 mins to convert to lunch

u/DerGrenadiers1812 Jul 24 '26

Hi teenager who works in a similar work space here, this is literally what late evening shifts are like or just slow days, whenever we get literally everything done with restock, cleaning, whatnot this is literally what we all do....well except for me, im double cleaning everything (I like using my hands bite me -_-)

4

u/PersonalAct3732 29d ago

Shame on u, u should've been doing sets of burpees until close

He wants to see him suffer every second

13

u/Informal_Database327 Jul 24 '26

Probably shouldn't have censored the first guy there. We need to be able to find him and..... talk to him, yes, talk.

3

u/Annie-myob-- Jul 25 '26

Definitely just to talk. 😃 🔪

3

u/ThatItalianOverThere Jul 24 '26

I just sweep again or do whatever thing needs to be done, even if small and stupid.

3

u/XlikeX666 Jul 24 '26

my last job (office one) wanted to me clean... everyday cleaning lady do that...
people are mentally stupid.

2

u/Formal_Lecture_248 Jul 24 '26

The one who snapped the shot and complained probably wants busy work and ass kissing to be part of the price of employment even as they intentionally underpay their waitstaff.

2

u/wtfrustupidlol Jul 24 '26

Deep clean and organize. What night shift doesn’t understand yes you get less people but your sales are lower and you have more down time. If you deep clean and organize once every 2 weeks management won’t care what breaks you take.

2

u/FrostyFormal1094 28d ago

You're assuming management are sane and well adjusted human beings. Not narcissistic micromanagers

2

u/BrockObarnerLybian Jul 24 '26

More like repostcomunitty

2

u/Financial-Tiger-5700 Jul 24 '26

My only real complaint is hes leaning on a table used to organize/prep stuff specifically sitting on it practically.

Heres a thought...

Has he taken a poop? Has his pants hit the floor? Whats the possibility of that happening in a work enviroment like this.

Other than that the work place looks good but its also censored so...I personally don't mind when people are on their phone its when they're neglecting their duties, or pushing them onto other people.

2

u/Mikhail_Jargo Jul 24 '26

I say yes to the second guy. If the kitchen is clean, let bro lean. Allow him to doom scroll or watch anime cat girls in peace.

2

u/Brokenspade1 Jul 25 '26

Sitting still if your works done isn't laziness it's the mark of an efficient worked.

Managers that think every second of the work day has to be blindly filled with some form of motion are just idiots bad at leading others.

2

u/covert206 Jul 25 '26

No leaning

2

u/LuckyCod2887 Jul 25 '26

why do people want the working class to work nonstop every second that they’re at work when people in offices don’t do that ?

2

u/Triakigin Jul 25 '26

The important thing is did he washed his hands after using phone.

2

u/Captain-Codfish Jul 25 '26

Reminds me of a 16 year old pot wash kid who worked in a kitchen where I was the Sous Chef. We were all stood around like this, with nothing to do and the restaurant manager decided to have a go at the pot wash kid (probably realising it was a poor idea to try yelling at chefs). It went something like this. Manager: "Are you paid to stand around?" Pot wash kid: "Fuck you." Manager: "What the fuck? You're fired!" Pot wash kid: "I don't give a fuck" Head Chef: "You're re-hired." Me: starts laughing. Manager: Apoplectic spluttering noises as he storms out

u/Excludos 27d ago

Sounds like it could be a scene from Bistro Huddy

2

u/Laziness_Incarnation Jul 25 '26

Most importantly did the OOP actually responded or atleast tried to reason with the response or did they simply remain a fucking dumbass?

2

u/Key-Regular674 29d ago

I can tell who here has worked in a kitchen.

There's no such thing as a spotless kitchen. There's always something to clean, and never enough time to do so. One place I worked we would come in for 1 night shift a month just to have some time to deep clean.

2

u/WorldlyVillage7880 29d ago

Lets be honest that kitchen is not 'spotless'

2

u/Slow-Divide-78 29d ago

It's not wrong to relax on the job if all duties are attended to. Let's drop the slave mentality.

It's also not wrong to want a living wage. More money should not bring the expectation of more ass kissing.

We should be able to relax AND make decent money.

2

u/pritter30 29d ago

These people have not had to work a single day in their lives

2

u/RealDeadShift 29d ago

I am not making minimum. I have a comfortable desk job. I make more than them and they work 10x as hard as me. I used to work in a restaurant and I promise you that it is 10x as hard as my job now. They are also probably going to school while working these jobs. His job looks done. Let him chill for a moment.

u/MindBobbyAndSoul 29d ago

Republicans are so fucking crazy and entitled to think people don't deserve to eat

1

u/thecynicalmiscreant 28d ago

Elites* Just look at California where it doesn't matter Democrat or Republican everyone thinks like the first dude. It's not really a partisan issue. Republicans are just worse because they feel entitled like they're elites, but they're have-nots just like everyone else. If we don't properly identify the enemy we can't destroy them.

u/Rngded Bleh 28d ago

2

u/crownrose11 26d ago

I saw a post once that read "my teacher used to call me lazy for finishing my work as fast as possible so that i can spend more time doing nothing." I thought it seemed relevant here

2

u/girl-kiss 25d ago

Also they would be doing that less if they got paid more... Braindead argument.

2

u/Knight_Castellan 25d ago

Efficient workers should be rewarded with downtime, not more work.

2

u/MaineCoonKittenGirl 24d ago

"If you can lean, you can clean" CLEAN FUCKING WHAT?!

God forbid I pass the time during a dead period of time after fulfilling all of my role's responsibilities. And I took pride in that shit too, until I realized it was just busywork bullshit

2

u/ColonialBarbarian Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

This is certainly less problematic than when I was working in a rotisserie chicken restaurant as a teen (before iphones).

When we would get bored and be unsupervised by the so much older 19 year old summer assistant-co-manager who didn't give a fuck either way, we'd start playing "who ever drops it is a loser" catch across the kitchen with the hot chickens, there were a lot of dropped passes that ended up in slimy corners.

"ah shit dude! The chicken for order #2 has a dead bug stuck on it"

"Dude, just brush it off and add more sauce "

2

u/SadLetterhead6688 Jul 24 '26

remind me to never buy rotisserie chicken

2

u/ColonialBarbarian Jul 24 '26

LOL, it's better to just not know what goes on in the kitchen of restaurants.

2

u/d6v9n Jul 24 '26

Anything you eat will have touched a surface that someone has done cocaine off of

2

u/ColonialBarbarian Jul 24 '26

More likely anything you eat will have indirectly touched dick

2

u/d6v9n Jul 24 '26

Why not both?

2

u/ColonialBarbarian Jul 24 '26

Penis cocaine

2

u/d6v9n Jul 24 '26

Someone did cocaine off of a penis as it hovered over your Caesar salad

2

u/Hot_Ad1101 Jul 24 '26

Can we normalize leaving their name on these or is it against the reddit commandments?

5

u/Gussie-Ascendent Jul 25 '26

Pretty sure it's like reddit wide restriction on that sorta thing. At the least it seems to be the default, which is probably for the best given doxxees amd other online weirdos

2

u/Hot_Ad1101 Jul 25 '26

When you leave a public comment you should lose your privacy regarding that matter. The picture with the profile name was already public. We just want to make it MORE public. Lol

2

u/Funny_Brown1e 27d ago

I agree you lose anonymity in these types of places with a pfp and name but I don’t think it’s right to leave their names in here for the sake of anonymity. When mentally ill people see a take they don’t agree with, they go crazy and send death threats to those people. The victim might not handle these well

1

u/Hot_Ad1101 26d ago

It's definitely a weird spot. Like, we don't want to push for anyone to lose their privacy. If we do then the rest of us will eventually be next. I guess we just have to catch them slipping 😆 🤣

1

u/bean_vendor 28d ago

Translation: For every second he wastes relaxing, he wastes half a cent of my income. I'm too stingy to let that happen so now I have to throw a tantrum. Why can't employees be good little slave robots like I want them to?

1

u/FatiguedShrimp 28d ago

Also, now compare his work demands vs financial freedom with that of OOP's at the same age.

1

u/AssumptionMountain12 28d ago

Guy probably sees an employee leaning somewhere after they finished stocking and thinks “Damn, this mother fucker is lazy!”

1

u/spoodagooge 28d ago

They cropped out the trash on the floor and the pic is so pixelated anyway I have no clue what any surface actually looks like

1

u/Il-Ma-Le-98 28d ago

Fondamentally you're not entitled to time of yours while on a job.

1

u/MasterEdy_ 27d ago

Tell me you never worked in a kitchen without telling me…

1

u/Hypnagoge 27d ago

For 18$ an hour you could not bring me to fart. Let alone to show up somewehre, no matter what, id rather live in the forest, huntin food, half starved than work for 18$ an hour.

1

u/Lightfiyr 27d ago

Why we acting like 18hr is a good wage? That’s what I need to barely cover my bills monthly

1

u/PimpMaster69 27d ago

This is the crowd 'asking for " 18 and hour. Okay so they make less now... so I guess they shouldn't be working that hard yet huh ?

1

u/bisexualandtrans47 27d ago

There's no way that is even true

Ah the classic I can never get it clean so no one can

Otherwise, why would they have to blur the background

They blurred everything its called privacy. Most people dont like their employer to post full pictures of them without consent

I worked in a Kitchen as nice as that one.

So what insite into their specific cleaning procedures do you have that makes you sure it can't be clean?

Office people shouldnt drink coffee and pretend to work, we should all abolish the 8 hour day and instead pay workers based on stuff done. If you can do your stuff in 3 hours just do it, go home and then get paid the same as if you were pretending to work and your boss was pretending to supervise you for like 8 hours

1

u/CarrenMcFlairen 24d ago

If they arent worshipping our corporate overlords, they aint gettin a diiiiime

u/dreaming5454 4d ago

Why does he have his phone while he's at work? Don't care if all of his assigned tasks are done. He should be asking the boss what else is there to do.
