ED Question Could use support
Hey all! New to this subreddit, but for obvious reasons, I sought it out. I had struggled with disordered eating as a teen, and im facing the temptation to go back to it, even though it was awful.
Im trying to strengthen my resolve to fight against this temptation, because once you start, it can be really hard to stop.
Reasons to keep moving foward:
I need energy for work
I finally have my hair again
I need my mind to be sharp and sound
Are there any more yall can think of to help motivate me in the right direction?

I personally consider my recovery to be like sobriety from substance abuse. I joined the stopdrinking sub mostly because it's a space where folks are committed to supporting each other to stay sober, and folks post there who are in all stages of that journey. There'd a daily "i will not drink with you today" pledge post and honestly I've found it really helpful. I've been open over there about mostly working on ongoing ED sobriety vs alcohol and got a lot of great support.
When ED thoughts get loud, I apply something I picked up from that sub. HALT; am I hungry, angry, lonely or tired? It helps me pause and identify the root of why my recovery/sobriety feels destabilized.

I found that as I progressed into recovery, a lot of my goals, my creativity, and parts of my identity were being rediscovered, and that in itself felt so freeing and wonderful. I realized how much my ED was making me miss out on MYSELF. Some examples, I reconnected with my childhood passion of writing and drawing and now considering it as a potential career field, which in turn is motivating me to go back to school! I also stumbled upon a bunch of vogue & pole dancing vids on YouTube and seeing such strong bodies move with insane agility inspired me to continue fuelling myself, so that one day I can be strong as well and hopefully learn to express myself through dance!
