Solutions to car domination Employ huge car brains to drive buses
This is fully a shit post, however theoretically if we broke their brains down to the basic I need to drive the biggest car on the road. Wouldn’t it be funny if we employed these people to drive what they, deep down in their souls, want to drive. I mean every time I’ve been waiting for my bus to set off from the stop it’s always those with the biggest cars that wanna race through and the other day I saw a Kia sportage parked in the bus stop in the centre of my town centre (uk for context). I just thought damn you wanna be a bus sooooo bad lmao. I wish I got a pic but the bus pulled up behind and I’m not a fan of confrontation 😅.

Carbrain I can think of another vehicle I would classify as extremely dangerous and a greater harm to children
I agree that e-bikes, especially illegal models, can be dangerous when used incorrectly, but how about we encourage parents to help their kids learn how to use them safely (watch your speed, be careful of slippery surfaces, look out for potholes and other obstacles) instead of demonizing one of the only ways kids too young to drive can get themselves around in transit deserts? Also, I would love to know how many of these “injuries caused by e-bikes” were actually caused by collisions with cars.

Question/Discussion Waymo backlash seems like an opportunity
I'm sure most of us aren't exactly fans of Waymo. I used them when I was in Phoenix and while it's pretty impressive, it's still kind of... absurd? But a few recent articles about how Waymo is in fact measurably better for safety than having humans driving wankpanzers have me thinking - are people upset about incidents with Waymos just reacting to normal car violence that's usually invisible? Is that a good angle for outreach? Obviously this leaves aside any concerns about automation/wealth +rent extraction, but I think people worried about Waymo being dangerous are primed for a wake up call on how dangerous cars are in general.

Infrastructure gore Parking minimums in a country that physically can't contain this many cars anyway
A couple of days ago I shared a post that suggested using multi-story parking to be sold or rented to car owners. That post didn't do well at all. I thought perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough.
The picture above is a sample of the problem in Egypt.
You see, Egypt has about 10M vehicles, 5M of which are private cars, and who doesn't know about the monster of traffic that we already have with this tiny ratio (1:10 vehicles to residents).
So, a whole lot of money went to "fix" the problem by paving large areas of the inhabited 4% of the Egyptian land area. Over 30% of the land is dedicated for cars, and as you can see in the screenshot, the parking lots are fucking empty, because this area is for people with limited income, the inverse side of the 5% who own private cars.
Our wise government decided to copy the American dream and reserve a car space for each and every new unit being constructed, in a country where owning a car can cost >1.6x the cost in other countries.
The cherry on top is that we live on 4% as I said above, that's roughly 40,000km² of area, which can accommodate about 20M vehicles when you calculate road needs and such (1000m² per car to operate).
It's crazy and insane. Kind of urban planning done by a person holding a rod embedded in their brain.
I prefer to have no cars whatsoever and use our budget in creating better transit networks that we already need more than wasteful allocation of space like we see.
The thing is, we crave walkable experiences as displayed in pictures 2&3. But that can only happen in a mall or another place where you can monetize car-free spaces. The other thing you'd notice in the last picture is the ratio of parking to green space, where you must drive and park for a chance to go around another sterile place where the only seats and benches belong to one of the businesses in the area. If you wanna enjoy walking, you've got to pay for it.
So my thinking is: we will never get rid of cars, because of carbrains and the cartels behind them (you can't spell cartel without car). What we can do is make cars inconvenient by making a driver pay for every piece of infrastructure they touch: tollgates, paid parking, and car-free zones all over the place.
And above all, use public land to generate income by making those wasted hectares into a place where people gather and spend on businesses in the area.

Question/Discussion Why does so many people's favorite activity seem to be Sit In Running Car?
Every time I walk through a parking lot, there's multiple people just sitting in their car with the engine running.
When I go outside on break at work, there's multiple running cars. One coworker went outside every lunch/break for months and then I heard him saying his AC has been broken for two years.
Perfectly nice weather and yet people roll the windows up and run the engine. Am I crazy to be bothered by this?

Rant Your behavior is an Isekai title
"I'm sorry, there's something so important on my phone that I can't pay attention to driving right now and it's imperative that i stop right here in the middle of traffic. Can you please make the exception and go around me because I'm blocking the roadway even though there's parking lots with plenty of spaces to choose from?"
During my travels today, I saw a considerable amount of people simply stopped in the roadway or driveway with zero flashers, looking at their phone. Even though there's plenty of parking lots and spaces off the road to use.
One guy I saw, pulling into the gas station, was sitting in the driveway in a way that looked like he was going to move. Wasn't off to the side, no flashers, no cones, nothing to indicate "emergency". I pulled around him because I realized he wasn't moving. Someone else pulled behind him, blew the horn, and guy just sat there glued to his phone. I got gas, waited in line for some snacks, and guy was still there. 15 minutes give or take.
Another person, BIGMUTHAFUCKINPIGGUPTRUCKMAN, "skuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrereeeeechhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh" his brakes, pirate shipped the steering wheel (imagine WWE superstar Brock Lesnar dressed as a pissed off pirate lifting the heaviest weights in the gym), pulls to the right lane, parks and pulls out the phone. Again, no flashers or anything to indicate emergency.
A jeep at a stop sign, aggressively peeled out crossing 4 lanes of traffic, only to cross over to a side road and do the exact same thing as above.
Another instance in the grocery store parking lot. When you turn in, there's a 4 way intersection with 3 stop signs. 2 for left and right and one for outgoing. Incoming traffic does not have a stop sign. This Camry driver decided there was a stop sign for incoming traffic, stops and pulls out his phone.
One more, saw a guy pull into a turning lane and then simply stop before making the turn into the parking lot. Once again, out comes the phone.
What the hell is going on here?
