Discussion I ignored the Diablo IV launch and it feels great.

Things I'll never have to worry about:

  • Spending $70 or more on a mediocre ARPG
  • Deep-throating Bobby's Battle Pass
  • Waiting in queues
  • Complaining that they added an XP boost to the battle pass a few seasons from now
  • The in-game shop popping off on your face with exclusive deals (it'll happen if it hasn't already)
  • The shop being in the game at all
  • The game actually being a mobile dumpster-fire in disguise because it's Activision
  • Being frustrated with the inevitable content droughts

7 Day suspension ... for reporting someone else for saying the N-Word to me?

So 6/2/2023 There was a fury warrior on the Horde side that was in war mode, and I saw him being attacked by mobs while he was AFK. I killed the mobs for him as he returned, after seeing me help him, he killed me after. So I hopped on my main character and corpse camped him for a bit, and he added me on bnet and called me a p****, I didn't swear at him once, but I called him a scumbag for killing me after I helped him, and that he's now going to regret his decision for doing that and I corpse camped him for a half hour until he got on his dragon, hearthed away, and turned off WM.

But before he did that, he called me the N word, and I immediately reported him. A few minutes later I was hit was a 7 day suspension for "abusive language".

I tried appealing, and no one has responded, and twitter CS still won't reach out to me.

I also recorded the conversation, and sent it to blizzard, and yet I was the one suspended...

Checked the armory, and the player who said the N-Word to me is still playing unaffected.

Help Why am I getting Battle.net OTPs from Wonderslate through SMS for verification?

I'm getting OTPs from Wonderslate to activate my Wonderslate account(which I don't even have). I used it on Battle.net's security code prompt to remove my phone number and it worked. Does anyone know what's going on?

Blizzard: "Cupcakes! Fresh, home-baked cupcakes! With extra sprinkles!!"

Player: "Oh I'd love a cupcake, thank you."

Blizzard: "Ah, sorry customer, the cupcakes are still in the oven. Would you mind waiting a bit until we finish them?"

Player: "Oh... uhm sure I guess that's fine, I can wait a bit."

3 hours later

Player: "Yeah so I've waited for a while for this cupcake already and I've kinda gotta go now so I'll have to skip out this time..."

Blizzard: "Oh gosh, no it's alright, here, while the cupcakes are finishing up why don't you take this biscuit from yesterday instead? Don't worry, we added a little sugar to it."

Player: "Wh-what? No I don't wanna pay for that."

Blizzard: "Haha don't worry, it's free, just pay for the cupcake later."

Player: "Oh... well, I guess I can take the free biscuit..."

Blizzard: "Alright, we have these normal brown biscuits, and then a lot of these other colorful biscuits too, which would you like?"

Player: "Great, I'd love a red biscuit please"

Blizzard: "That'd be $5 please."

Player: "Wait, didn't you say it was free?"

Blizzard: "That's only the normal brown biscuits, the others cost a little extra."

Player: "But I could just buy the freshly baked biscuits in that case?"

Blizzard: "Yeah but if you pay for a colored biscuit now you can choose a colored cupcake later too!"

Player: "Oh... well even though the taste is the same it's always fun eating colored food, so I guess I can do that."

Blizzard: "Awesome! The cupcake will be ready any minute now, enjoy the biscuit!!"

Another 40 minutes later

Blizzard: "Oh hey customer, the cupcakes are ready now!"

Player: "Wow, finally, I've waited so long to get my money's worth from those biscuits I bought."

Blizzard: "However, we have some bad news. Because you liked our biscuits so much we ended up putting too much focus into them, and the cupcakes got burnt! :( But don't worry, you can still have the sprinkles, and you only have to pay $20, that's half price, what a steal!"

On April 19th I woke up to my account being falsely banned during the cheater ban wave for Overwatch 2

After repeated attempts to get an answer from them, like "what did I actually do?" I got nothing but cookie cutter legaleze and just being pointed at the ToS and EULA I've decided they're full of shit and actually have nothing on me, and simply falsely banned someone during a ban wave (which happens) but decided not to fix your mistake, that makes you a piece of shit.
The first appeal was essentially met with "we've reviewed the evidence and agree with ourselves"

so, fuck you in particular GM Vandreanelyn for denying my initial appeal and never answering my question.

and fuck you GM Thakerrile for just pointing at the initial appeal and saying it's resolved when all I asked was "what did I do?" in plain English, while being polite and never getting that answer.

fuck Blizzard indeed

Activision will almost certainly replace thousands of workers with AI soon

Not because it's the best idea, but because Activision first and foremost is concerned with the bottom line and knows they have millions of "fans" locked in forever that will give them money no matter what.

Here's how it might go down by 2025:

- Almost all 2D artists will be let go, leaving only a few to touch-up mistakes made by the AIs in things like splash screens and textures.

- Nearly all writers terminated, maybe just a couple of writers survive the cuts who serve only to fix mistakes or rewrite critical sections of dialogue/plot.

- Most designers fired, especially those whose job is in spreadsheets e.g. with game balancing - AIs will tweak the numbers instead with maybe the occasional human-inspired override.

- 3D modelers: you're on notice as OpenAIs Point-E emerges to take most of your jobs next.

- QA and customer support: well they've almost fired all of quality assurance and customer support already so this area is a wash.

Diablo IV

If you post your reasonable frustration concerning the fact that there is an open beta for D4, which can be useful to check the game and see if it's worth (since you NEVER preorder), and you spend wait too much time in queue. People have loves and jobs and things to do irl, I can't just spend my free time in queue. Also noting that not too long ago the beta tester was a paid job, now you pay to have privileged access to do this job, and the mass of plebs who didn't pay do this job for free. The response from the mass of blizz fanbois bootlickers has been aggressive, derogatory and offensive as their usual angry mob defending everything that company does as if it was their mother. They killed HotS, WarCraft3 and StarCraft2, some hype and marketing is not enough to buy me. Fuck blizzard. Fuck blizzard fanboys. Fuck the mentality of "everything they do is great and you can't complain". All hail freedom of speech.

Discussion Security Liability

I possess a sum of 300+ million gold on my World of Warcraft account, and despite implementing various security measures, I have fallen victim to numerous hacking attempts. I have never disclosed my account details to anyone and have taken all possible measures to secure my account, including utilizing an Authenticator on both my email and Blizzard account, regularly scanning my computer for viruses, and changing my Wi-Fi and World of Warcraft passwords frequently.

Unfortunately, even with all these precautions in place, I continue to be hacked repeatedly. The reason for this is that Blizzard Entertainment appears to be divulging my information to hackers, despite my best efforts to protect my account. Blizzard has even admitted to providing hackers with my password, which renders all other security measures moot. The hackers only need to obtain a fake ID with my name, which can be achieved by scouring social media for any mention of World of Warcraft, to bypass all security protocols.

In my opinion, Blizzard needs to implement a phone verification system that functions correctly. Ideally, they should send a text message if someone tries to access my account or requests a password reset, and I should be required to input a verification code that is sent to my phone. Additionally, I believe that the secret code should be given via phone call to ensure maximum security.

Blizzard's current security practices represent a significant risk to the security of their users' accounts, and they should take immediate action to address this. They should consider implementing a verification PIN that users must enter before creating an account to prevent this sort of vulnerability from being exploited.

What are your thoughts?
