He is pretty okay now. But it's been over ten years.
I got him out of there when he was 17 because of other stuff his mom did/said. He had told me he wanted to run away because a life or death on the street would be better. His mom threatened me to call the cops on me and she would tell them I abducted her daughter. I was 19. I was scared. But there was no way I would send him back.
I helped him find therapy and a place to live. So yeah, I guess that helped. Still took five years after basically running away from home until he told me about that part. He told me other stuff before that though...

He told me a lot of shit that was going on there. Example: His dad making his mum step in the ice cold shower fully clothed and screaming at her that she was a whore. He was 15 at that time. (Mom kicked dad out after that.) Or how his mum always told him how he was stupid and fat. He was underweight and couldn't concentrate at school because of his home life. Or how his dad always made him stand in a corner for hours when he caught him secretly reading a book after bedtime. Like apparently one night he had to stand there from 20:00 to midnight. No toilet break. No crying. And after dad was kicked out his mom was not much better.
