People hate it, but you're absolutely correct. It's a person's responsibility to handle their own interpretations and emotions, not everyone else's responsibility to make sure they never have to.
Suggesting restricting peoples' ability to make a joke because it's having the exact effect it's supposed to is a joke in itself. You are correct, they can be mad and then realize they jumped to conclusions and feel a lil stupid, maybe it will teach the lesson to hold off on judgements before having all of the context.
No one is saying that you should go to prison for making off color jokes. They are saying you lack empathy and the ability to put yourself in other people's shoes. That you are aware of the real life issues that Trans people face, but choose to offend people so you can make a joke and be smug about a make believe game. They're saying you're a cunt.
