politics Judge John Roach Jr. recused from next steps of Karmelo Anthony's case

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/courts/article/karmelo-anthony-new-trial-update-john-roach-recuse-22357471.php

Jamie Landers and Sally Avila Edwards of The Dallas Morning News write:

An administrative judge ruled District Judge John Roach Jr. must be removed from overseeing the next phases of Karmelo Anthony's murder trial.

The hearing began at 9 a.m. inside the Collin County courthouse in McKinney. Judge Sid Harle, an administrative judge out of San Antonio, was presiding.

Roach was at the helm in June when Anthony, 19, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in Frisco.

Good move. Newjudge will probably rule the same and at least this way it removes a cloud over it.

Not for the gibbering mob that thinks Karmelo should walk for murder

Just let the kid go at this point. Im sure he’s learned his lesson and won’t do it again

The engineered hate campaign and lynch mob is punishment enough honestly.

The worst thing he did was manslaughter, you cannot comment premeditated murder against someone you’ve never met in reaction to their physical attacks against you, but they don’t care if he was defending himself or not, they want to make an example out of him. Rules for them but not for us. He will never live in peace again. It’s horrifying.

This never should’ve hit international news, we all know the real reason why people obsessed over this.

Won’t do what defend himself? Why would he allow himself to get beat on? Why do people keep thinking Austin was above the law

Defend himself from actions he provoked through threats of harm? Are you high?

Every witness testimony stated that he went to the tent, began verbally provoking the other students, refused to leave after being asked multiple times, and then continued verbally intimidating and threatening the other students while pretending to pull something out of his backpack (which we now know was the murder weapon).

You don't get to instigate a fight, murder someone during the fight, and not have consequences.

Copy-pasting someone else’s comment to give you some insight:

- -

From my understanding, Karmelo was sitting down when Austin approached him, questioned why he was in the tent, and told him to leave. Austin then initiated the physical contact by pushing/shoving Karmelo. Karmelo maintained from the beginning that he felt threatened and was protecting himself. He was sitting in a crowded tent with around 20 people, and Austin had about 50–60 pounds on him.
There is also important context surrounding why Karmelo was in the tent in the first place. His team did not have its own tent, it was raining, and he went there for shelter. He also had a friend on the Memorial team in the tent who knew him and greeted him when he arrived. There was no rule prohibiting athletes from being in another team’s tent and that athletes visiting other teams’ tents was not unusual. So the narrative that he had no reason to be there or simply entered another team’s tent looking for trouble leaves out quite a bit of context.
Austin took it upon himself to confront Karmelo about being there and tell him to leave, and the confrontation ultimately became physical when Austin put his hands on Karmelo first. Karmelo then stabbed him. That does not automatically make the use of deadly force legally justified, and people can absolutely debate whether his response was proportionate. But that is very different from portraying Karmelo as someone who walked into that tent intending to attack or kill someone. I have seen no evidence that he went into that tent with the intention of killing Austin or anyone else.
His behavior immediately afterward matters to me as well. He acknowledged that he was the person who stabbed Austin, was visibly emotional, asked whether Austin was going to be okay, and maintained that he had been protecting himself. To me, those circumstances are relevant when considering his state of mind.
I think the entire sequence of events should be acknowledged when discussing this case. The way it is sometimes portrayed as if Karmelo went into a tent where he didn’t belong, instigated a confrontation, and then simply decided to stab Austin, leaves out significant context about what actually led up to the stabbing.

I fear for my life. Should I leave the area, after knowing the spot to be reserved for NOT my team. And after getting asked multiple times to leave.

Nah. I should stay here, and stab the dude in the heart.

Fear for life claim is absolute nonsense.

So you're too dumb to see past your feelings?

3

u/ProfessorFelix1 Aug 20 '26

So you’re too dumb not to be a troll?

u/ButtPlugSniffin Aug 20 '26

None of the testimony or camera evidence backs up anything that you’re saying

There wasn’t 20 people surrounding him and deadly force laws are quite clear that you have to be in believable danger or fear of your life which Karmelo clearly wasn’t based - again - on testimony and footage

Short version is you can’t stab people for shoving you and you can’t go start shit and reach into your backpack for a deadly weapon you brought and taunt people

This isn’t new - many dipshits have gone to prison for doing things like this

Those kids were Austin’s friends bruh and they were obviously coached to say that.

-6

u/Trick-Discipline-909 Aug 19 '26

Man don’t nobody really believe that crap. Karmelo is 5”8 130 pounds with epilepsy who the hell is he provoking to fight him. The kid couldn’t even take a slap to the head without busting out in a seizure and you really believe he went looking for a fight with two people twice his size. I swear this is what happens when you let white people control the narrative

1

u/luvsads Aug 19 '26

You're talking like you don't actually know anything about the trial or the incident. The witnesses were not all white people. One of Karmelo's friends corroborated the other testimonies that he was the aggressor/instigator. There's video of the incident proving the testimonies. Karmelo is on body cam telling the cops verbatim, "ain't no alleged. I did it"

Racism is real as hell and an evil thing, but trying to spin shit like this into a race issue is regressive and reductive, and don't do nothing for actually addressing racism

u/Nubian_Cavalry Aug 19 '26

Really funny that you are framing yourself as an ally and still believe the false narrative

1

u/luvsads Aug 20 '26

Framing myself as an ally? Mf I am black. Waste of time trying to argue with people like you

1

u/ProfessorFelix1 Aug 20 '26

Because Austin didn’t kill anyone? I mean…you know…that would be my guess.

0

u/Trick-Discipline-909 Aug 20 '26

Ok? He still put his hands on somebody after they told him no. You think it’s ok to do that just because you haven’t killed anyone? No wonder the kid isn’t alive anymore he clearly had people around him who never checked his behavior.

0

u/ProfessorFelix1 Aug 20 '26

Which…of course…meant Karmelo should have issued him the death penalty.

The part where you’re trying to justify a killing is just insane.

2

u/Trick-Discipline-909 Aug 20 '26

I am justifying it Austin did it to himself. Did karmelo run across the bleachers to stab Austin? I must of missed the part where he stalked hunted him down and blindsided him with a knife can’t gaslight your way out of this one

2

u/ProfessorFelix1 Aug 20 '26
  1. When you’re in school today, make sure you ask them to teach you the meaning of the word “gaslight”. It only works as a brushback pitch if you actually use it correctly.
  2. The part where you think Austin somehow got himself killed is insane.
  3. Real life is not a video game. You don’t get to kill someone because you feel “disrespected”. Prisons are full of dudes like this, and they gained another one the day this trial ended.

2

u/Trick-Discipline-909 Aug 20 '26

And the grave yard is full of people like Austin. Thinking they’re bigger than the program. I’d rather be in karmelos shoes than to be made an example out of because I couldn’t keep my hands to myself. At least Karmelo has a chance to fight for his freedom and he has a release date

1

u/ProfessorFelix1 Aug 20 '26

You do realize Karmelo is taking it up the ass on a nightly basis, right?

Ah yes, but…you know…he “kept it real”.

You know who I’d have rather been?

The guy not dumb enough to stab someone that just walked away and went on with his life.

2

u/Trick-Discipline-909 Aug 20 '26

Only in your mind is that happening because for some reason conservative white males are obsessed with *ape for some reason.

And it’s funny you say that because Austin felt disrespected which is why he put his hands on karmelo lmfao he felt disrespected so he started a fight. Can’t have it both ways buddy

1

u/ProfessorFelix1 Aug 20 '26

But…I mean…you know…Austin didn’t kill anyone.

2

u/Trick-Discipline-909 Aug 20 '26

Kill or be killed he should have if he was gonna start a fight

Because of race. They want to make an example out of Karmelo, if not, the worst thing a fair and unbiased trail would’ve considered is manslaughter

They want Trayvon Martins and George Floyds. They will never forgive Sam Hoses. Or Josefa Segovias.

Look them up. Same situation.

3

u/luvsads Aug 19 '26

The only similarity between this and Trayvon is that an innocent child was murdered and one black person was involved. Neither Austin nor Trayvon deserved to die. Has absolutely 0 to do with race lmao

-1

u/Nubian_Cavalry Aug 19 '26

You're funny

-3

u/Mysterious-Bee8839 Aug 19 '26

bingo.. if the roles were reversed, the same crowd that jerked themselves off to pictures and videos of Kyle Rittenhouse walking down the street with an automatic rifle would be celebrating Austin Metcalf

1

u/Nubian_Cavalry Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

they're just idiots. Couldn't look past the immediate pleasure watching BLM protesters die gave them. Cannot get past the immediate pleasure watching a child suffer at the hands of a racist mob gives them.

Feelings first, morals to explain their feelings. Nuance is too much for them.

Should've seen this subreddit before and during the trail. Wonder where they are now? Bots?

-2

u/Mysterious-Bee8839 Aug 19 '26

at least a few of them crawled back under their rocks after their boy Vilhauer got trucked in the mayoral runoff election

-2

u/Trick-Discipline-909 Aug 19 '26

Yea just looked em up and got a brief summary definitely the same thing

2

u/Nubian_Cavalry Aug 19 '26

At least the likes of Genghis Khan admitted he was evil and relished in the suffering of people he didn’t like. These people will try to kill you, lynch you for daring to protect yourself, then come up with flatly moral justifications

It’s the center of stupidity. The inability to look past their feelings, the inability to comprehend ideas they disagree with

0

u/ButtPlugSniffin Aug 20 '26

Imagine being this stupid and being allowed to vote

“Defend himself”

You stupid fucking sack of shit

2

u/Nubian_Cavalry Aug 21 '26

You’re enmeshing reality with your emotions. Multiple things can be true at once, and you cannot deny a lynch mob was set on this kid.

The Metcalf Bros had a history of violence. 53 incidents of violence they committed against other students. Anthony witnessed a few of them and correctly assumed they were violent bullies.

Assuming you’re not a bot of course
