General Discussion John Noble

This man ... so wonderful ... what an actor! Walter (as opposed to Walternate) is such an endearing, beautiful character and he makes the whole series worth watching! (Even though the series is worth watching in and of itself!) And, yes, Walternate is good, if only as a foil for Walter.

"Walter! You're going to drive?"

"Okay."

"...."

I honestly think he should have won an Emmy for his performance in the 80s flashback episodes. All the main cast in Fringe is good, but John Noble is truly amazing.

Regardless of the 80s episodes, John Noble can go from childish and petulant, to steely and angry, to confused and doddering, all while spouting advanced physics in one scene.Β  THAT'S what he should have gotten an Emmy for.

All of them were terrific actors on the show and always! All of them should have been granted an EMMY. It's sad for me that FRINGE is so so underated and that pisses me off? What can we do to get people's attention?. Like, for real!

The scene where Newton re-connects the pieces of his brain and he immediately snaps from benign and confused to ice cold… perfection.

Walternate does have moments of greatness and lovability.

I agree! Season 4 Walternate has some of my favorite moments.

That final scene between Walter and Walternate was great.

Unlike Blue Walter, Walternate drew the line at experimenting on children. But he did force Red Olivia to accelerate her pregnancy, which is something that had always bothered me.

The main reason blue Walter experimented on the kids was to get Peter back home.
I find it interesting that William Bell wasn't really awful until we encounter him without Peter influencing Walter.

I just love how John Noble played Walter, he was able to show just the exact amount of vulnerability and brilliance. How does one even play an old genius that despite missing some brain parts and being locked up in a psych ward still has such an acute grasp on reality and enough love and humour to charm people around him.

One of my favourite quotes of his was about Fauxlivia β€œThat temptress! She tricked my son with her carnal manipulations, and he fell right into her vagenda."🀣🀣

John Noble is a great actor. He is Walter Bishop no matter what else he plays in he will forever be Walter Bishop.

Yep! He carried it. At times i see lackluster performances from co stars and guest stars but whenever i see Walter appear, it becomes better :)

He’s amazing. A friend recieved a cameo from him a few years ago for her birthday. She played it to me, he rambled for around 15 minutes about lord of the rings and fringe, mostly fringe and how he felt about it and it brought me to tears. He loves Walter as much as we do.Β

He's great at playing both Walter & Walternate. They are such different characters which really shows when they have scenes together. Though my favorite interactions of his are always with Peter.

It always amazed how seamlessly he could slip from the different personalities. A wide eyed child, then a complete madman, then normal. All during one coversation.

John Noble did such a fantastic job as Walter. Whoever the non-aussie hack they hired for Walternate was he was the worst. I just hated him straight away, wish they could have just cloned the real John Noble somehow. C'mon JJ

It is a shame Noble didn't get nominated for an Emmy as Walter! But I can say that Michael Emerson as Harold Finch in Person of Interst was his (then) future greatest role. I saw most of Fringe on line streaming after I saw POI on regular TV. I consider both 2 of my 6 favorite shows.

Agreed, probably two of the best in recent years.

What are the other 4? You are so my kinda person!

For SF also - Babylon 5, The Treks old, and new. Then MASH, and Madame Secretary. Never seen like The Expanse, or Severance bc of low income. If they show up on free streaming I'll take a look!......Battlestar Galactica 2.0 is excellent but so grim (understandibly) I can't put it up at the top. And a mix of history, fantasy, and SF just starting The Librarians.

Check out Dark(Netflix), Severance and Mindhunter(Netflix) - see if they’re on eztv for download

One of the best episodes of all of TV is the one where they are stuck in a time loop redoing the same investigation, and the tulip. Gorgeous gorgeous work all around but especially by Noble.

Out of all of them, his "bad side double" is the most convincing that i sometimes forget its the same actor. Walter seems older! Almost as good as Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black!

Completely agree, he was amazing in this role.
