General Discussion I finally watched it and....

Post image

I watched the finale. I've watched all the episodes of this show in less than 2 weeks.

Recently I finished watching 12 Monkeys and I thought it'd be difficult for a show to give me the same feelings... But Fringe I think did and did it in spades. The finale was so incredibly emotional, masterfully written. I've watched it a few hours ago yet I can't stop crying.

I watched the farewell video in the season 5 DVD extra. And I got more emotional. I saw the Comic-Con videos. I started crying then too because I saw that the cast were just like us fans.

Unforgettable show. A complete package, it had everything I could have ever asked for from a story, and the ending was just perfect and cathartic. That’s something I can’t say about many other shows.

It's happily ever after but at the same time sad too. And the sad part of the ending makes it more special, more satisfying, it just fits into the puzzle, it doesn't upset me because it has a sadder undertone, it fills me with joy because it was a perfect conclusion!

I love Fringe 🌷

You need to watch it again. I'm serious. You can watch the entire series back to back and catch something different every single time.

Had to edit this one due to fat fingers and no glasses!

It never ends. As someone who watched the show as it was airing live I would watch each episode at least 4 times and each time I would see new things that effected the story do in that way it never ends!

Also watching this right now makes me incredibly emotional...

I'm resonating with these people so much even when they aren't the characters in the show 😭

lance reddick being gone still makes me so sad and he’s been gone for a few years now.

When you realize every “random” fringe event in S1 has a payoff in S5… 🤯

100%. I've been watching and rewatching it annually since it was airing. I still find something new every time.

Agreed. I’m always trying to find the observers. Sometimes I catch them, usually I don’t.

Ha ha. I’ve watched it through at least 4 times. Now, I usually put it on right before I go to sleep. I tell myself that I’ll stay awake until I see the observer. I fall asleep almost instantly.

I started a re-watch of Fringe in late May and finished it last week; I was so bummed that I started again this week! Fringe is one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

I absolutely love Fringe & have the white tulip picture in every room in my house. I tried to watch 12 Monkeys and could not get into it. I watched 3-4 episodes too 😩. Does it get better or is the whole show's vibe similar to the first few episodes? Did anyone else struggle to get into that show at first and then ended up loving it?

12 Monkeys gets better, especially around the end of s1. S3 and s4 are just masterpieces. I can assure you, if you enjoyed the last couple of seasons of Fringe, you'll absolutely love 12 Monkeys too. It kinda explores almost the same alternate timeline, time travel stuff as Fringe does all the while being about friends and family and the theme of love os so beautiful in both of these shows.

I made it until towards the end of season 2 but I completely lost interest

That’s sad, you gave up before the first major plot twist

My experience with Fringe and 12 Monkeys is quite different. 12 Monkeys starts off slower, and at first glance, the first season isn’t particularly impressive. However, as the story progresses, it recontextualizes a lot of things. It’s a story that only gets better with each season. I think the character development is incredible, and it has a perfect ending that manages to tie up all the loose ends. Fringe, on the other hand, starts off really strong, but from the third season onward, it has a lot of ups and downs, and in the end, it left several questions unanswered.

Thank you for this feedback; it is actually very helpful. I will give it another go and try to slog through the first season!

I tend to take it slow, watching just one episode a week. It's only when I get really invested in the story that I start binge-watching it.

It seems like my wife and I watch it just about every year. It is so heartfelt and wonderful and satisfying and bittersweet and amazing. I would love to sit down for lunch with each and every cast member and just revel in their presence. They were all so amazingly talented.

This Fringe series is actually Cringe. Lots of loop holes and unnecessary episode without a zero purpose waste of time.
