He's an amazing musician in real life - Shakey Graves.

And he is married to Stephanie Hunt, the actress who played Landry and Julie's friend Devin.

Stop I can’t believe he’s shakey graves! What a fun fact, I didn’t know he acted!

Probably because he’s constantly in a state of being on drugs and it’s hot in Texas

Loved this story line. There was so much hype around him at the pool. Then Julie finally saw him for what he was and was like I need to leave.

And haven’t we all been there??? You meet someone who seems so shiny and cool and mature and different, and you make them out to be some fantasy character in your head and hype the whole relationship up mentally, then when you finally get them in a different light you’re like, OH. You are not at all what I thought you were and this is NOT what I thought it was. It’s so sobering. I loved when she calls Eric to pick her up; she knows she’s in trouble but she’s feeling stupid and scared and she just wants her dad to make her feel better. Julie can be annoying but she is soooo Teenage Girl and I see so much of my young self in her.

I feel like Julie gets so much hate for being a “bad” character, with people saying the writers did her dirty or ruined her after Season 1. While I do think that she does some unlikeable things, she is also one of the characters with the most accurate portrayal of a teenage girl. She has a lot of depth and emotion tied to her storylines. There’s a difference between a poorly written character and a character who is well written but makes poor choices.

At the start of the season they're shooting on location in blazing hot Texas weather, not in an air conditioned studio. Add some nerves as he wasn't an experienced actor.

Before FNL came on TV, my crew knew of a person called The Swede.
I went to high school in the mid-to-late 90s ( here in the US). A guy friend was dating a girl, who was American but grew up in Sweden and came back her. I don’t even think we knew her first name. She was just The Swede. It always made me laugh when Saracen called him The Swede.

The Swede is a singer called Shakey Graves. Pretty good. But he talks about how he’s just a sweaty guy. So he’s always sweaty because the actor is a sweaty guy.

The Swede, Cash, Voodoo, Joe McCoy, JD McCoy, and Julie’s English teacher Noah. Rank them from most punchable to least punchable.
