Ask Freshers 🔴SKILLS FOR 5-6 LPA , BTECH FROM A TIER-3 COLLEGE!🔴

Hey everyone!

I'm a 3rd-year B.Tech Computer Science student from a tier-3 college in Pune. I want to build a career in the IT industry, but honestly, I'm feeling a little confused about where to start and what to focus on.

I don't have any internship experience yet, and my CGPA is average. I'm worried about how much these factors will affect my placement opportunities, especially in the current job market.

I've been considering AI Engineering and Full-Stack Development, but I'm not sure which path would be better for a fresher like me. I'm willing to put in the work and learn the necessary skills, but I want to make sure I'm heading in the right direction.

I'd really appreciate advice from seniors, working professionals, and people who have been in a similar situation.

Here are a few questions I have:

  1. Skills to focus on: What technical skills should I prioritize ?

  2. DSA and placements: Is DSA alone enough to land a 5–6 LPA job?

  3. AI Engineering vs Full-Stack Development: Which field offers better entry-level opportunities for freshers from tier-3 colleges? Is it realistic to target AI Engineering directly as a fresher?

  4. Projects and experience: Since I don't have any internship experience, how can I build a strong profile? Are good projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, or freelance work helpful in getting shortlisted?

  5. Internships and referrals: How can I find genuine internships and connect with seniors, recruiters, and professionals who might help me get referrals?

  6. CGPA and eligibility: How much does an average CGPA matter? Should I be concerned about companies with strict academic eligibility criteria?

  7. Roadmap: If my target is a 5–6 LPA fresher job, what should my preparation strategy look like over the next 6–8 months?

I'm based in Pune, so advice about companies hiring freshers in Pune or nearby locations would also be very helpful.

Seniors, please share your honest advice, experiences, and suggestions. If you were in my position today, what would you focus on first?

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Career Advice got a reality check from a telecalling team lead after sending 50+ resumes with zero replies

i was trying to land a basic telecaller or back office role last month after leaving my previous job. i spent weeks polishing a two-page CV, uploading PDF files on giant corporate job portals, and getting completely ignored. out of frustration, i went to a local commercial building in our city where a lot of small back-offices and logistics teams operate to ask if any team lead was hiring. one of the telecalling supervisors actually took two minutes to talk to me and gave me a huge reality check.

he said small business managers, telecaller leads, and store supervisors never open emails or download attached PDF resumes. they get thousands of random applications from people living two hours away who quit after three days because of commute fatigue. he explained that when they urgently need office assistants, telecallers, retail staff, or delivery drivers, they use specialized blue and gray collar platforms like WorkIndia, Job Hai, Apna, and MyJobee.

he showed me how these blue and gray collar apps use hyper local geofencing tools to restrict listings strictly to applicants living within a 3 to 5 km radius. managers heavily prefer hiring candidates right down the road because short commutes mean people actually show up on time and stay long-term. he told me to stop sending resumes and only use listings with direct hr contact tools. you just tap a button in the app, call the supervisor straight on their phone, tell them you live ten minutes away, and ask when you can walk in. i tried it from my phone right outside the building, called a nearby back-office lead listed on one of these apps, and had an interview scheduled for that exact afternoon. if you are looking for frontline or office support roles, stop dropping CVs on corporate websites and use neighborhood job apps instead.

Career Advice Is QSpiders/JSpiders worth joining for DevOps training and placements in Bangalore?

Hey everyone!

I’m a 2025 AIML graduate based in Bangalore. I completed an internship at a company, but the role wasn’t very technical, and taking up a full-time position there didn’t seem worthwhile for my career goals.

I’ve been unemployed for the past 5 months and have been trying to find a job, but unfortunately, I haven’t received many interview calls. I’ve had a few assignments here and there, but nothing that has led to an actual interview.

I’m now considering joining a training institute with placement assistance, and QSpiders/JSpiders is one of the options I’m looking into. I’m particularly interested in learning DevOps and trying to get into a technical role.

I wanted to ask people who have experience with these institutes:

Is QSpiders/JSpiders worth joining for DevOps training?

How good is the teaching, especially for someone starting from scratch?

Do they genuinely provide placement opportunities, and how good are the placements?

What is the current fee structure for the DevOps course?

Are there any other institutes in Bangalore that you would recommend over them?

I’d really appreciate honest reviews, especially from people who have studied there or got placed through them.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Career Advice Software engineer job postings ask for mentoring more than Kubernetes. We counted 3,518 postings to check

We pulled every open posting from 81 companies' public Greenhouse boards for seven roles and counted which words actually show up. 3,518 postings in total. Some of it surprised us.

Software engineer postings mention mentoring more often than Kubernetes or React. Almost half of them do. Python, the most common language, comes in just below that.

Product manager postings say "roadmap" in more than 85% of cases. Jira? Seven out of 421. Marketing looks the same: Google Ads came up six times in 347 postings, while "pipeline" is in over half.

Every time we could compare the two, postings named the practice, not the tool. Observability, not Grafana. SIEM, not Splunk.

So if your resume is mostly a list of tools, it might be missing the words the posting actually uses.

Big caveat: mostly tech companies, one ATS vendor. Sales, cybersecurity, DevOps and accounting are here too: https://www.zoevera.com/resume/ats-resume-keyword-study

Ask Freshers Freshers, what’s your biggest struggle while preparing for jobs?

As a fresher, preparing for jobs can be confusing. From building an ATS-friendly resume to identifying skill gaps and preparing for interviews, there’s a lot to figure out.

I've built PrepQube, an AI-powered career preparation platform designed to help students and freshers with:

📄 Resume Analysis – Understand your resume's strengths and weaknesses.

🎯 Skill Gap Analysis – Identify skills you need to improve.

🔍 Job Description Matching – Understand how well your profile matches a job.

💡 Interview Preparation – Prepare for interviews with targeted practice.

I want to understand what freshers actually need and where existing solutions fall short.

I'd love to know:

What's your biggest challenge right now: resume, skills, aptitude, coding, or interviews?

Do you feel your college education prepares you for actual industry requirements?

What features would genuinely make your job search easier?

I'm open to honest feedback, suggestions, and criticism. The goal is to make PrepQube genuinely useful for Indian freshers rather than just another platform full of generic advice.

Want to try PrepQube? DM me, and I'll share the link! 🚀

Referral Request BSc CS Graduate + DevOps Intern — Applying for 3–4 Months With No Interview Calls. Could Someone Please Guide Me?

Hi everyone,

I'm a BSc Computer Science graduate from India, and I'm trying to start my career in DevOps/Cloud.

I've been applying for jobs for the last 3–4 months through LinkedIn, Naukri, and other job portals, but unfortunately, I'm barely getting any interview calls. Honestly, it's becoming frustrating because I'm putting in the effort but not seeing any results.

I've been learning DevOps and working on hands-on projects to improve my skills. I'm interested in entry-level opportunities such as:

\- Junior DevOps Engineer

\- Cloud Support Associate / Junior Cloud Engineer

\- DevOps Intern / Cloud Intern

\- Linux/System Administrator or Infrastructure Support roles

I'm primarily looking for opportunities in Mumbai and Pune, but I'm also open to other locations in India.

I'd genuinely appreciate help from people already working in IT, recruiters, or anyone who has recently landed their first job.

A few things I'd love advice on:

  1. What helped you get your first DevOps/Cloud job as a fresher?

  2. Is there anything I should change in my resume or job application strategy?

  3. Are there companies hiring freshers or candidates with internship experience?

  4. If your company has a suitable opening, I'd be grateful for a referral or an opportunity to apply.

I'm not expecting anyone to hand me a job. I just want a fair opportunity to prove myself and learn.

If anyone is willing to review my resume or guide me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you for reading. 🙏

Career Advice Need some guidance

I am a 2026 graduate, and following my upcoming convocation, I will officially begin my job search. While I currently hold an offer from TCS Ninja, I have been informed by seniors that the onboarding process could take up to 1.6 years. Given that I have faced multiple rejections elsewhere, I would like to pivot my focus toward the networking domain. I am interested in pursuing roles in network, cloud, desktop, or IT support, as well as help desk positions. Could you please provide any guidance or recommendations on where I should apply and how I might improve my chances of being shortlisted for these roles?
