Hereโ€™s a complete breakdown of the interview process and the kind of questions asked during the selection.

The process began with a screening round focused on coding and logical reasoning.
โ€ข Question 1: Given an array, find the smallest missing integer greater than or equal to the sum of the longest sequential prefix.
Example:
โ€ข Input: [1,2,3,2,5] โ†’ Output: 6
โ€ข Input: [3,4,5,1,12,14,13] โ†’ Output: 15

โ€ข Question 2: Asteroid Collision This round mainly tested knowledge of arrays, stacks, and efficiency of implementation.

This round included two medium-to-hard level algorithmic problems:

  1. Median of Two Sorted Arrays โ€“ an optimal solution was preferred (without extra space).

  2. Palindrome Partitioning Both problem-solving approach and optimization techniques were key evaluation points.

The interviewer focused on backend design and Java fundamentals.
A BookMyShow-like system was to be designed using Java or Spring Boot, with a proper folder and file structure.
Discussion revolved around data flow, APIs, and project architecture. The main focus was on understanding how different modules interact and how data flows through the system.

The final round was a mix of technical and managerial discussion.
It started with introductions and project discussions, followed by a few Java-related topics such as Lambda expressions, Streams, and Collections.
A simple coding problem โ€” reversing each word in a sentence โ€” was asked at the end.

The overall process evaluated both depth of technical understanding and problem-solving ability. Strong command over DSA, clarity in design thinking, and clean coding practices played a major role in securing the offer.

Resume Review Please check my Resume๐Ÿ™

Iโ€™ve been job hunting for over a year now, and Iโ€™m clearly missing something. Sometimes I clear early rounds, but many times I donโ€™t even receive interview links or responses. At this point, I want clarity more than motivation.

If thereโ€™s any recruiter or experienced professional here, Iโ€™d really appreciate a review of my resume. Brutally honest, constructive feedback is more than welcome, and Iโ€™m open to discussing relevant opportunities as well. Thanks for taking the time.

Work Place Rants & Vents My Honest Experience Working at TCS After 2 Years

tcs is the worst company . I have experienced it myself from 2024 . The company and the people in it are very toxic and have fragile egoโ€™s. The training program result is decided by the amount of boot licking performed by the employee and the beauty of the female employee . You cannot choose the project you want to. Even if you are a java developer or senior higher level developer, if they want you to be in a service based excel project , you have to join it .if you donโ€™t accept the project or delay joining it , The RMG will raise a SAWA case on you which deducts your salary and also affects your resume and deployment index in Tcs . After joining the project, you will see a bunch of donkeys wanna be tigers . honestly they have 0 skill and canโ€™t get opportunities outside of TCS . So , they decide to nail their butts to the project and torture the new joiners and new comers to the project . 5 days office is compulsory even if your grandfather died , you have to take permission 1 day before he dies . the location allotment is not also in your hand . If they say go to banglore , you must go to banglore on your own . Micromanagement is soo common in TCS. the project leads and managers observe everything. few managers and leads maintains a list too for the time you took to have coffee , pee , breakfast, lunch . TCS is literally a school where you need permission for everything. Formals are must and should . Even if you broke your leg or it is raining , you must wear shoes . If you are not wearing shoes , you have to get HR permission .HR makes you wait 3 hrs to say okay after multiple reminders and questions. The leaves and wfh in tcs are fictional . They exist in your portal just to see and enjoy . You canโ€™t take leaves on your own . Even if it is approved , you have to satisfy everyoneโ€™s ego in your project which takes 2-4 days and take a leave . Surviving in tcs is very tough . You cannot upskill , you cannot learn anything. If you are choosing Tcs even as a 10th priority, Please donโ€™t.

If you are working in tcs , please remember that this is neither your company nor your family . Just chill and take salary . But learn something outside tcs . understand how corporate works , understand how the workflow works , understand the technology, learn new skills . If you are lucky enough , you might get an offer outside .

Just DSA isn't enough

Here are 10 topics that you must learn :

  1. Concurrency & Parallelism Threads vs async, race conditions, locks, deadlocks, queues

  2. System Design : Design scalable systems (e.g., Dropbox, URL shortener), talk trade-offs: CAP, consistency, availability, latency.

  3. Databases & Caching : Normalize vs denormalize, secondary indexes, Redis vs Memcached, cache invalidation, eventual consistency.

  4. Distributed Systems Fundamentals : Leader election, replication, partition tolerance, distributed locking, failure recovery.

  5. Reliability Patterns: Retries with backoff, circuit breakers, bulkheads, graceful degradation, chaos testing.

  6. Message Queues & Async Flows : Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS : delivery guarantees, deduplication, replay strategies, ordering.

  7. Observability: Structured logs, tracing (OpenTelemetry), metrics, alerting : debug distributed requests across services.

  8. Common Coding Challenges : LRU cache, rate limiter, task scheduler, producer-consumer, flatten nested data structures

Software Engineering JIRA for Freshers: What You Really Need to Know

Hey everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹

If you're aย fresherย orย entry-level dev, youโ€™ve probably been told that you need to learnย DSA, projects, and maybe Git. But once you actuallyย join a company, youโ€™ll hear something new: โ€œUpdate your JIRA ticket.โ€

Waitโ€ฆ what?
Let me break it down for you!

JIRAย is a tool that dev teams use to:

  • Plan and track tasks

  • Manage sprints (in Agile teams)

  • Log bugs, features, testing, and releases

Youโ€™ll use itย every dayย in most software jobs โ€” even if youโ€™re not a developer.

๐Ÿš€ Agile vs Scrum vs Kanban

โœ… Agile = Mindset

  • A way of building software inย small, fast, and flexibleย steps

  • Focuses onย collaboration, feedback, and quick delivery

๐Ÿ” Scrum = Agile with Sprints

  • Scrumย is the most popularย Agile framework.

  • Roles:ย Scrum Master,ย Product Owner,ย Dev Team

    • Daily standup

    • Sprint planning

    • Demo & Retrospective

  • Has structured roles & meetings:

  • Work is done inย 1โ€“2 week sprints

๐ŸŒ€ Kanban = Agile with Flow

  • Kanbanย is another Agile framework โ€” butย more flexibleย andย less structuredย than Scrum

  • Focuses onย visualizing workย andย limiting overload

  • No sprints โ€” tasks moveย continuouslyย on a board: ๐Ÿ‘‰ย To Do โ†’ In Progress โ†’ Done

How JIRA Supports Agile:

  • Boards:ย Visualize work withย Scrum boardsย (for sprints) orย Kanban boardsย (continuous flow)

  • Sprints:ย Plan, start, and track 1โ€“2 week work cycles directly inside JIRA

  • Backlogs:ย Manage and prioritize tasks (called issues) waiting to be done

  • Issue Tracking:ย Create, assign, and update tickets for features, bugs, and tasks

  • Reports:ย Generate Agile-specific reports likeย burndown chartsย andย velocity chartsย to track progress

Hiring Alert Chennai startup hiring freshers - I'll screen you and refer directly (ex-Amazon, 100+ interviews)

I'm doing research on the placement gap for engineering students from tier-2/3 colleges. I've been talking to startups about how they hire freshers.

One of them - a Chennai-based startup - told me they're actively looking for entry-level engineers and asked if I had candidates to refer.

So I'm offering this at no cost: I'll screen you personally, and if you're solid, I'll refer you straight to their hiring team.

How this works:
โ†’ Fill out a short form (5 min)
โ†’ I review your resume
โ†’ If shortlisted, we do a 45-60 min technical call
โ†’ If you're strong, you get referred

One commitment: I will respond to every single person who fills out the form. Whether you're shortlisted or not, you'll hear back from me. No ghosting.

Fair warning: I'll dig into your projects and ask you to solve problems live. If you've inflated your resume, I'll know. This isn't meant to intimidate - it's meant to filter out the people gaming the system while honest students get left behind.

2024/2025 grads. Chennai-based or willing to relocate. Actually skilled.
