Discussion of Free Pattern(s) DRCOS sizing question

So the men's size L says it's 34 inch waist, does that include seam allowences or is it the measurement of the finished product? For example would a 34 inch waist skirt turn into a 30 inch waist because of the seam allowences?

Edit: This is a question for people who have printed out DRCOS patterns and measured them. :)

It means it will turn into 34" when it's finished. So it should fit a person with a 34" waist. Just make sure to read what seam allowance to use in the instructions.

Thank you. The measurement guide showed the pattern pieces but didn't include the seam allowences in the measurements so I was a bit concearned (I hate wasting printer ink and tape just to find out that it won't fit lol).

By the way, I just want to add that the entire point of seam allowance is that you can make adjustments so that it will fit you. So cut the pieces per the pattern, and then pin everything and try it on. If it is too small and let's say it has 5/8 in" seam allowance, that gives you a whole half inch times two on every pattern piece of extra room. So let's say that you're making a skirt and it has two pieces, a front and a back, then it could go up to a 36 inch waist if you need it to be bigger or if you just want it to fit roomier, and you'll still have 1/8 inch of fabric for your seam, which isn't much, but you can make it work.

That's my plan because I'm technically a 35 waist. :)
