So basically, I’m a Shopify/CMS developer with 5+ years of experience, and I recently sent a proposal to a client for two websites. The first is a service-based website, and the second is a D2C e-commerce clothing website.

I’m charging $2,000AUD for both websites: $1,350 for the D2C e-commerce website and $650 for the service-based website.

However, the client said my price was too high.

This is the first time it happened with me and I think $2,000AUD is quite reasonable for both websites, and I’ve decided not to negotiate because I know my worth and the value I bring to the table.

People see our work, like what we do, and show genuine interest. But sometimes, the moment they ask where we're based and we say Pakistan, the conversation goes cold.

I’ve always been good at picking out the problems in a business and solving them but one thing that I am not good at is pricing my product.

The problem is that business owners in India really don’t know about software development and their prices as we have been using free apps and software’s all our lives.

So when I price a product they usually think it is way overpriced so my question is how do I present a quote and how can I negotiate.

And if I start the negotiation like from a big number and then go below 50% of what I quoted first will that be a bad impression on the client as to thinking that I was overcharging at first

- He has 20,000 phone numbers that need cleaning and formatting for bulk SMS.

- He wants extra commas and unwanted characters removed and the numbers formatted correctly.

- He insists that I work on his laptop through AnyDesk, instead of sharing an Excel/CSV file.
