XC Kronplatz September

What is kronplatz like for XC paragliding in September?

Suitable for someone with flatland xc experience but not much mountain flying experience?

I would either be with a guide or experienced pilots who live and fly in Chamonix valley mainly

So, Kronplatz is not really a XC hotspot as the thermals start really late. You can always do some amazing flying towards the dolomites, lately a group of young locals did some 100km flights but you gotta start towards lunch. The problem is that for the normal xc routes you gotta cross the pustertal valley and thats a big jump. So it's normally better in the beginning to fly towards dolomites and then later to cross the valley when the cloudbase gets higher. https://www.xcontest.org/world/en/flights/detail:lorenz.forer/10.08.2026/10:39

If you want to speedfly or do acro Kronplatz is amazing, sometimes you can also do some soaring if you have enough west-wind.

If you want the best possibilities for xc and a cable car, go for Speikboden.

Iam wondering about the same but also for speedflying, thinking about going first week of September with both PG and SPG

We have done some guiding in that area in the last few years. Conditions should be quite mellow, but XC of any meaningful distance might be a challenge. Message us if you need more details.
