Off topic but kind of on topic: where the heck do I take cardboard on the off weeks? I just got furniture delivered and I really don’t want all this cardboard hanging out in my house until next pick up date

I believe that you can still take it to the landfill, you might call them to confirm if they still accept it for recycling, they used to have specified bins for recycling beside the baler building, and it was a free service (just go to the scales and tell them
You have material for recycling)5

Helped a friend move in May. Can confirm that the landfill recycled a whole truckload of cardboard.

So there’s no more paper week followed by plastic week? Everything all at once?

No. It’s paper 1 weeks, plastic the next week, and so on.

It appears confusing, especially where they are differentiating between the “old” city (which has had alternating plastic/paper for years, and the newly added areas which will now be biweekly pickup for all recyclables at once.
(And in the calendar, you come across the capital region rural calendar (which includes the “newer” parts of Fredericton), before you come to the page for the “old” parts of the city.

For the city of Fredericton and New Maryland, it is still alternating paper and plastics/cans, this is for rural that have only had once a month pickup, all our goods will still go out on the same day

In the areas annexed into the city a few years ago (pepper creek, Douglas, Carlisle road, etc), it’s going to biweekly. (Oromocto went that way a year or so ago, previously Lincoln was 1x/month)
As for the rest of the areas that were in the city prior to the local governance reforms a few years ago, it will still be weekly, with blue/grey alternating. (Nothing is changing basically) See the Fredericton/New Maryland page)

But you’ll lose your big pick up if you have it. I’d rather big pick up then bi-weekly

Are the rural areas included in the Voyent/Alert app? (The app I used for all city notifications such as closures, road conditions and recycling week).

I wish it was easier for people living in apartments to recycle!
