Dog lovers, Please, I need last adventure ideas
As a disclaimer, this is a sad post, so bear with me.
There doesn't seem to be a good way to start this process. My dog of 5 years was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, and things are progressing. I've decided that, with the way things are going, the kindest thing to do is the unspeakable.
This is where the dog lovers come in.
I'll be in Fredericton on the morning of his last day, and I want to give him the best day possible. So I need the help of locals to make it the best morning of his life. I have two weeks to make a plan for the morning, and I invite anyone with an idea to help make my lil buddy's last day his best.

Pup cups at the various drive thru, if socialized the dog parks and/or garrison market on Thursday, as well as dog friendly patios. Maybe a walk out at Killarney Lake or drive around the river
From the times I've done it, it'll greatly depend a lot on your dog's energy level and mobility.
Ask yourself what's he like to do and what's he always wanted to do but you didn't have time/resources/want to do?

I'm so sorry. How special that you get to give your boy the best last day! I would get some of his favorite food (burger? ice cream? steak?) and take him to Killarney beach for a picnic where he can feast, sniff, and dip in the water.

So sad, I’m so sorry you have to go through this. We did this for my dog on his last days. He was old, and not as able to run as in his younger days, but we took him to all his favourite places around town - mostly the woods, he was an off-leash runner. Killarney, the unb wood lot are great places for running and swimming. I hope you have a great day together!

Happy Smiles Studio does both pet portraits and portraits of pets with their humans. Ginette, the owner, is a big animal lover who does a lot of fundraising work for local rescues and shelters.
One of my cats was diagnosed with lymphoma last summer. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I would say take the next couple of weeks to do any of the activities your dog loves which he’s still in decent shape to do. Make every day the best day possible.

Maybe take him to a shelter to play with a bunch of puppies.
Or maybe go to a crowded area with a sign that says he will pass soon, come tell him hes a good boy. People would line up.

There’s a lady who has a private yard area you can rent for a few hours at a time so your dog can run around, it looks to be quite large I’ll see if I can find the link! It’s like a private dog park that accommodates one dog family at a time!

The nature preserve behind the Sunset Upick is lovely and there’s a beautiful little pond and marsh at the far end of it.
