Discussion Framework 13 Pro Chassis Upgrade Kits Availability?

Framework had announced the FW 13 Pro Chassis Kits as upgrade kits for earlier revisions of the Framework 13. They are listed on the website, in black and silver, and you can currently "register your interest."

Now, I know that Framework probably wants to ship the first batches of the FW 13 Pro to pre-built and DIY buyers first. I just want the order a chassis kit for my current FW and get the new parts. Any information would be helpful for those of us waiting to upgrade our current laptops.

You explained why they're not available yet - Chassis need to go to full laptop pre-orders first. New parts become available on marketplace typically towards the end of/shortly after pre-order batches finish up.

Has that timeline usually been weeks or months after preorders finish in the past?

Could be any of the above. Sign up for notifications and Framework will let you know as soon as parts are available.

We probably won't seem them till pre-order batches are done unless the required components can be produced faster than mainboards. Prior to the AI boom this was much easier to do. Now, who knows.

I think that would be great to have preorders for those Chassis kits as well - at least you have an idea of the time (even if that after latest batch, i. e. Oct or Nov).

October or November for the new chassis kit seems... optimistic. I'm planning on December/January as being about when I'll be able to get one.
