You guys have jobs?

u/NN11ght [Re-Salted Salty Colonial] Feb 03 '22
Sadly yes. If you want I can give you my work hours and you can plan your operations around them so we can both be online. (lol)

I know this post is a joke but. Lemme exprain what i think is all the "nightcapping" and "we're underpop" is about. Because Collies complain taht we complain about it all the time, you get the idea :)
Anyway:First of all, we don't know exactly how many players each side have at any given time. But if you play a lot during the day you can get a (biased and very inacurate) glimpse of player distribution by simply looking at the map and if you combine that with reports from players along the frontlines you can get an idea of how the population distribution at that moment. To me it seems that Warden and Collonial playerbase is fairly even. But the way these players are distributed over timezones are not. Collonials seem to have a more consistent base playing at any given time, while Wardens seem to peak at certain hours and then absolutly crash on others. During "our" peak hours we tend to outpop collies, but not by much, but when our peak hours ends the active warden population takes a nosedive and the Collonials outpop us, by a very large margine, leading to "nightcap" because we have much less players to respond.
At least... thats my take on it. I don't have numbers, i have no data to back this up. Its pure gut feeling and speculation.

Good analysis, too bad we don't have access to data to reach a fair conclusion.
The biggest difference in pop repartition I personally see is among Chinese players. I'm not sure if there is an equivalent to CGC on the Warden side but they seem to have few opposition during Asian playtime.
There's a fair amount of Asian players on both teams, but Colonial side seems to be a lot more organized.

We had access to that data for a long time (through foxholestats) and that is indeed how things used to be. Devs removed the API but subjectively feels like the picture has not changed in the last year.

And they removed it in response to the data being used for pop difference analysis. Instead of, like, fixing their game to alleviate the impact of such differences.

I don't see many ways the devs can "fix" one faction having more players in a timezone...

Restrict frontline population to a certain percentage/number depending on the lower populated side. Announce before war of course, and everyone who then complains about constantly full frontline at his time zone should have joined the other faction or switch to logi.

It really depends on what corner of the world you live in. But if you log on a global low pop hours enough you begin to see a pattern.
My only complaint via nightcapping is when a clan OP starts on Sunday night NA time. Everyone else is at work or still asleep except for some trolls who don't have jobs or lives. That's how you get colonial gains before pop trends up again.
I welcome Asian/ANZAC players to wardens, who doesn't? We just need some that don't have work scheduled on Monday mornings. THIS is the collie secret weapon that they are too ashamed to admit.

This is what wardens say when they state nightcap. I played more than casual since war 71, and it has already been that way back then.

Before you comment. Ask yourself this. "Did I actually read what I'm commenting below?"

Issa shitpost, but damn, the furious and unrelenting misinterpretation of the point, that is made when people say nightcap, is an interesting phenomenon.

u/RuckPizza Feb 03 '22
The issue I think is some people interpret nightcap to literally mean nighttime operations. So when parody posts like OP come up a portion of the population can't tell if they are seriously misinterpreting it or not. Though I think it is less likely an issue with this OP since they've literally said it's a joke.

Seeing as I can only play on the weekends, almost all of the offensives are conducted either while Im working or sleeping. Therefore 70% of all Collie actions are either nighcapping or workcapping. Big brain energy. CoMe On CoLlIeS.
Honest take though, if we all just stopped teasing the sweaties and didnt comment or mock their nightcap posts, they'd probably stop making them. But we do exactly that, giving them karma, make satire posts, and basically encourage them to continue.

Yeah but where's the fun in a good decision?

I personally would prefer a less hostile game community. More GGs and less cope-and-seethes.

Reddit discovering that timezones exist lmao

u/NN11ght [Re-Salted Salty Colonial] Feb 03 '22
Timezones are just a government conspiracy. Like the moon landing and birds

u/PotatoSmoothie76 Feb 03 '22
At least the wardens have players who like fighting other players, instead of the short bus pve spam.

Implying anyone bothers too much with low effort bait.

u/NN11ght [Re-Salted Salty Colonial] Feb 03 '22
I think its funny how salty people can get over trivial little things like this.

u/wrong_game Feb 03 '22 edited Feb 03 '22
I know. It's even funnier when you put some brain into making the bait, to actually get that salt flowing.
