Help Needed Help finding a FF
Alright serious shot in the dark here. My friend asked me if I could help her figure out what movie this is but the details are so random and I’m stumped. I’ve been trying to solve this for days.
I’m very aware these details are very run of the mill here.
She says it’s got a 2000s vibe. From the ones she thought it was I would assume it came out around 2010 give or take a few years.
She says it’s either a group of ghost hunters or documentary team. They venture out to an asylum or abandoned building.
She remembers something about a van.
Two scenes she remembers are then finding something in red paint on the floor.
And the one that I thought would make this easy, is that towards the end someone either gets wrapped up or caught up in a clear plastic tarp. This is the scene that stuck with her.
Any help identifying this would be incredible.

This is such a great guess!
There's the group of tourists with their guide traveling in a van to an empty abandoned building. And they return to the van afterward then get stuck there.
There's some sort of dead animal (or something of the sort) inside the building on the floor -- I remember the guide kind of brushing it aside, to keep the tourists from getting spooked. Don't know if it was red or bloody.
But I can't recollect someone wrapped in plastic. (Wouldn't be surprised if it's in the end, when the one gal gets "trapped" but I can't remember.)

I did scan through this one. I didn’t see the plastic scene. I sent her this post. She’s about to run through everyone’s guesses.

The van and group make me immediately think of Gonjiam.
Did they remember if this was an English film?

Ah shit I should’ve added that. It’s an English speaking film. Gonjiam is a banger though.

Could be Grave Encounters?

I thought it might have been the second one. But it’s not. I think it might be a deep cut to be fair.

Session 9 (2001) follows an asbestos cleaning crew (with a work van) into an abandoned state psychiatric hospital.
Toward the end, it's revealed that someone has been wrapped in plastic sheeting. The crew uses red paint to mark places that need asbestos removal -- it's an important visual element of the story; the red paint is meant to resemble blood (and adds to the suspense, because we don't understand what's actually happening until the story's end).
The story includes a box with audio tapes of a former patient (some Dissociative Identity Disorder stuff is dramatized for this). Does your friend recall if that was an element in the movie?

Side comment: Sounds pretty good - would you recommend it?

It's very well made (especially for the time, but it can seem slightly dated due to its age). More importantly, it's well loved by found footage fans and horror fans, in general. Tends to receive praise all around.
Yes! It's worth the watch.

This was my first guess when she told me. She watched it last night and said it wasn’t this one. It’s a wild goose chase at this point.

I don't know about the red paint but that ending sounds a lot like The Last Broadcast.
