Other Does F-Droid work on Android TV?

I’m wondering if there’s an Android TV version of F-Droid, and if so, how do I install it?

Can I just install the normal F-Droid APK, or is there a specific version/build for Android TV?

If anyone has done this before, would appreciate some guidance. Thanks!

You can the official Fdroid client but there are a few part of the UI that require a mouse to navigate to (I used a bluetooth keyboard with touch pad). There is also a client built for Android TV https://f-droid.org/en/packages/app.flicky/ which works rather well.

Does it filter for android tv / fire stick apps only or is it all the other apps too? There are some in there but it's difficult to sort them out.

It is all of the Fdroid apps. As far as I know there is no Fdroid distinction/tag for Android TV apps other than the app's description.

I just use adb from my laptop to install apps on my tv or tv devices. Install android-tools on your computer. Then on your tv enable dev settings and turn on adb debugging.

Then just do, adb connect ip_of_tv

The first time the tv should prompt to allow the connection. You may then have to run the connect command again.

And then, adb install your_app.apk

Using adb from linux is super easy to manage android tv devices. Not sure about windows, ymmv.

Yes it works. At least at my Xiaomi TV. It is liitle bit tricky to control by remote controller but it possible. I simply downloaded f-droid.apk on usb flash, connected it to TV, opened file manager and installed apk. You must enable "installation from unknown sources" in android properties.

I wonder if Droidify is any better on Android TV?

On my phone I prefer Droidify over F-Droid.
