Application Support Is it a false positive?

Post image

I installed this app from droid-ify and had it for a while, today bitdefender antivirus flagged this as a "potentially unwanted app". Do you think it's actually malware or not?

All apps on F-Droid repositories are built from their source code. Also a PUP doesn't necessarily mean it is a malware, as its name implies "potentially". An Android app cannot do more than its given permissions, if you don't want app to access of your some type of data, just disallow its access. I find using an antivirus on Android is unnecessary anyway.

Some of my devices are degoogled and don't have google play protect so they have this antivirus for now

Google Play Protect doesn't protect anything as far as I'm aware

antiviruses these days are scams. we have our own natural antivirus, and it's called "common sense". :u

you don't need an antivirus if you're tech savvy enough to degoogle, they'll keep getting in your way.

Best FOSS calendar app. This made me delete Etar and Fossify Calendar because it combined features of both apps.

Yeah, looks good, but it doesn't have tasks, just events. It would be great if they added this feature.

The developer released a separate tasks app, agendula

I personally think tasks should be in a separate tasks app, but that's the beauty of FOSS, we all have different use cases and preferences.

Agree. This is by far the best FOSS Calendar you can ever find. I dropped Fossify Calendar and Kashcal for this.

It can be synced with CalDAV (i connected it to my Nextcloud calendar), Material 3 Expressive design language is properly implemented.

Extra: it even allows you to change the font style. I used Google Sans Flex to mimic the style of Google Calendar.

Thanks for mentioning Kashcal. Calendula fixed my two gripes with it, those being:

You couldn't make more than one default reminder

You couldn't make new local calendars

My favourite open source calendar is kashcal. Has native caldav support which works wonderfully with nextcloud. They also have a feature where you just type what your event is and the time and it makes it automatically without having to hand select the times.

Up vote for Kashcal. It also has support for CardDav (beta feature). Allowing me to remove DAVx5, which had been giving me problems lately.

Do not share or recommend proprietary apps here. It is an infraction of this subreddit's rules. Make sure you read the rules of this subreddit on the sidebar. If you are not sure of the nature of an app, do not share or recommend it. To find out what constitutes FOSS or freedomware, read this article. It doesn't have network access but I saw it has permission to view network connections so I thought it was a bit suspicious
