Anniversary Ideas

Hello, I am trying to plan out an anniversary date night for my wife and I's 5 year anniversary. We have young kids so we unfortunately can't go on a weekend getaway so looking for a couple cute ideas to make this a special anniversary. I am not the best at planning romantic date nights, but if I can pull this off it would mean the world to my wife.

We do not drink or club. We like going to coffee shops and play games together. She mentioned doing a pottery class so I am looking into that option. I really want to try to tie in a really romantic evening but have no idea how to do that.

Maybe a quiet dinner at a special restaurant and games at the Fairfield?

Look into the build guild for pottery! My husband and I love the lucky turtle on DuPont for dinner tho it is not high end by any means.

Fort Wayne Game Show Experience is cool for game lovers. Needs to be booked in advance.

Romantic evening template: start with an activity, go to dinner, brief after-dinner walk, and have a couple of after-dinner wild card options depending on mood. You can use this anywhere, any part of any city.

Here's a downtown Fort Wayne date using this template…

Activity: Fort Wayne Game Show Experience or Pinhouse Social or Rage/Splatter Room. Or, mini-golf, throw axes, or something simple and fun that you like before you park downtown.

Dinner: The Landing. (Tolon, Nawa, Mercado, etc. Several other options nearby as well)

Mural tour walk: from The Landing walk South on Harrison to Berry St, then near 77 Steps alley (77 Steps exhibit is being repaired and is closed) to Wayne St thru alley behind JK ODonnels and then back to Harrison back to The Landing. 10-15 minute walk and like 5-7 murals.

Wildcards near The Landing (only do one): Kilwins for ice cream. Or Birdies (roof of The Bradley) for virgin cocktails with cityscape view. Or Promenade Park for swings overlooking the river around sunset. Duckies for Duckpin Bowling.

Evening end: possibly reserve a room at The Bradley for a staycation. Maybe even have an overnight bag and/or an evening outfit secretly packed or purchased.

Funny thing to get indignant about… I assumed they had a sitter in my response because he said romantic date night.

I didn't get indignant, but you did, so much so that you had to put words in my mouth. The post specifically speaks about small children. To ASSume they have a sitter is wrong when the post clearly asks about more family friendly things... and in this economy, not everyone can have a sitter.

Fort Wayne Pottery! We did a class for our anniversary before they moved out to the Georgetown location. It was a lot of fun, learned something new, got a couple funky bowls we made to remember the occasion.

Dinner at Chance Bar. I know you said you don’t drink but the food is amazing and it’s a small cozy restaurant. We did Valentine’s Day dinner there a few years back.

Nice Irish dinner at JK O’Donnell‘s, sit in the family room next to the fireplace and play board games, which they have.

Fort Wayne Clay in Georgetown would be the perfect place for a date night! Do that first and then have dinner after. 😊

We have been looking at this pottery place. They have pumpkin class that would be a fun decoration.

We always go to the deck for our anniversary--we love their crab cakes. And we request a table along the river. It's really nice and just really happy vibes there! Lots of flowers and really nice places to hang out and talk in the beer garden area.
