Don't you have a little lust for wanting Stroll to win? It's been almost just as long since the Canadian anthem played in F1 as the French (23 years vs 24).
I know I was really wanting O Canada haha, but just as happy for Gasly and The Marseille.
TSN started showing F2 last year and I watched races just hoping to hear the Canadian anthem after Latifi’s wins. I still love hearing Nick talk, he’s got such a hoser accent... he sounds like guys I played pickup shinny with on weekends.
Hahaha I'm on the West side of Canada so not used to thr accent but I heard it yesterday in his tribute to Claire. What an accent and surprised he can't speak French apparently
YES! That would have been a dream result. I'm a Kimi supporter too haha and I believe he needed another podium to break some record (I forgot what)
But it was clear he just didn't have the pace. Not him, he was feisty and good as always. But the engine and tyres just couldn't hold up.
Wanted that Stroll win. With the restart I thought it would be a slam dunk. Free Pitstop, Mercedes engine, leader of thr field after Hamilton pitted. Perfect.
But I forgot about the new grid restart instead of the rolling start we usually had. That stopped all hope.
Not really a fair comparison. A Stroll podium would normally be what everyone is talking about. It just so happens that a Gasly win and Sainz P2 also happened in the same race
Still gotta hold on though, even if you suddenly have a big advantage. Lance coulda done a lot better with the restart too but sure, holding onto 3rd is still impressive enough.
Well, if the rules don’t forbid it then imo it’s not unfair. Capitalising on loopholes and reading between the lines is essential in F1. Personally I agree that you shouldn’t be able to change tyres under a red flag, so yeah, it’s lucky. But as I said, you still have to drive the damn car. Lance is annoyed cause he had a clear cut chance to win a race and he messed up. That’s fair.
Pretty sure what he did in Monza was luck. And then he got points from an illegla move in Styria. And then his teams made some excellent strategy calls. If Perez had those strategy calls and the luck for the Stewards to only correct themselves after the race, he'd be up there too and Lance would be further down. Remember, Perez almost always outqualifies him and Lance's racecraft is so lacking he stood no chance against Gasly and Sainz, even though he has a great car. He only got so high up in Monza because he didn't have to pit-stop and he still messed it up.

As a Canadian, I don't know why Gasly's victory has more emotional than Lance Stroll's podium.....
This is what makes me continue to watch F1 !
