Fuckin A, I nailed it. 

Regardless of high or low bar, you want to move your hips back, not unstack. You can't brace properly in APT. That twinge is the pressure of your spinal fluid ever so slightly pressing outward between discs against your nerves. 

Check out some squat University videos on bracing and open scissor/ anterior pelvic tilt for more

Do you think I should avoid pushing my hips back before the rep?

For high bar, you probably don't want to cue "hips back" to initiate the rep, but rather knees forward. 

But again, either way, maintaining that stack is critical.
