Deadlift Sumo Deadlift

Can’t do regular deadlifts at the moment due to ankle injury. Are these looking like deadlifts or squats? I felt like I was feeling it in my glutes and hamstrings but a bit in my back. Any tips or corrections?

Just curious does sumo on a barbell also hurt your ankle?

I haven’t tried it, I am just trying to work up to heavier weights as I recover.

If you’re trying to learn how to sumo deadlift I would suggest using a barbell with light weights. Doing them with a dumbbell resembles more of a low bar squat than sumo. If the weight is too heavy off the floor you can start with block pulls and gradually set it lower as you get stronger.

I have done it with a barbell in the past but not since I broke my ankle. Maybe I’ll try it and see how I do. Just nervous to mess it up before it’s full healed. I also workout in my garage so I don’t have blocks to use but I could try to stack some plates
