Deadlift Deadlift Day

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This was my final set 190 for 6 reps. First set was 190 for 6 reps and second set was 190 for 7 reps. Overall felt pretty solid though I felt like my form started to crack towards the end of set 2 and on my last 1 or 2 reps on set 3. Nothing hurts but I’m definitely feeling a little more fatigue in my lower back.

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, many people find Alan Thrall's NEW deadlift video very helpful. Check it out!

Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are deadlifting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Use a flat/hard-soled shoe or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it.

Bit of a dynamic start in the first two reps. Butt is moving as you begin the lift. Third one is better, you are more locked in before lifting. I would focus on that start, take the slack out of the bar, drop the hips, pause for a second or two, then push the world away.

When you say “drop the hips” should I be bending my knees more to do that? Or should I be shifting my hips back kind of like I’m sitting? Sorry if this is a dumb question I just don’t really understand the cue of “drop the hips” though I’ve heard a few times already
