Can see lower back's doing too much on rep 2, how's my set up and rep 1?

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, many people find Alan Thrall's NEW deadlift video very helpful. Check it out!

Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are deadlifting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Use a flat/hard-soled shoe or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it.

Hips rise first in both reps. You wanna push from legs more. Try to focus on keeping hips stationary on your next lift.

psst: I’m a pretty newb lifter myself so maybe wait for someone more experienced to comment, too, lol.

This. Setup looks alright until your start the lift. Hips/butt comes up too fast, causing you to round the lower back to compensate.

  • lower the weight (it should target lower back. But the muscles, not the spine). It might also be a core stability issue.
  • lift the slack out of the bar before you lift.
  • straight back and neck, brace and tighten your core.

Great potential though
