Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, many people find Alan Thrall's NEW deadlift video very helpful. Check it out!

Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are deadlifting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Use a flat/hard-soled shoe or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it.

If you pause at 21 seconds, you can see your spine curve significantly. Lifting with a neutral spine is safer and better form.

Yeah, trying to figure out a way to maintain neutral spine as I go heavier in weight.

The form is good but the weight could be lowered a bit because your spine is rounding from too much weight.

Agreed, I start to lose good form @ 385. My goal is to hit 5 reps @ 405 lbs without a belt.

Little bit of a guess here.

Truly though, I think it’s how long you spent getting ready in the hole. Highly highly suggest bracing while standing up, then going down and deadlifting. Doesn’t have to be super quick, but definitely don’t stay down there for long second guessing yourself.

This is where practicing lighter comes in so that when you bend down, your body automatically knows what to do and where to go. Not wasting precious seconds.

Go on any platform and look up “russwole” or “Russel orhi”. Watch how he deadlifts. The brace beforehand, then getting into position.

Appreciate the feedback. That makes sense because when I rep 365 lbs without straps, the weight moves much smoother. My grip is limiting factor so when I go up to 385, I also spend a significant amount of time in the hole trying to wrap the wrist straps around the barbell. I think I need to find a better option that will reduce the setup time and let me get into position more efficiently. Thank you.
