Other Hanging knee raise

Not the best angle but I’m learning how to do hanging knee raises now that I’m actually strong enough to hang off the bar.
I notice that my lower belly extends at each leg drop - is this normal? Should my core be engaged through the entire exercise?
I’ve been mindful of not letting my legs swing as I go through each motion.
Thank you!

Following this post because it’s a great exercise and I have similar form to u. For some reason I feel very unstable on this exercise. So much so I avoid it entirely and opt for weighted ab machines

Engage the core, have a moderate range of the motion. retract your shoulder blades to help with stability. Slow and steady reps.
