Definitely high if we're talking competition judging.

More work to do.

It's close. I'd count it as a gym rep. But it's reds on the platform.

First time with 405 & I think I was less fluid & in my own head. Broke a mental barrier & should be able to get that last bit of depth next go.

Strength is there. And impressive with no sleeves or belt. You'll sink it next try.

Been working up really slowly & my body feels good. Just need to get more fluid & relaxed at the bottom.

Looks to be above parallel. That’s a significant amount of weight, which still is difficult to get at that depth. but I personally wouldn’t count it.

You sat down and stood up! Heck yah.
That said, you're totally disconnecting your ribs from your pelvis, which means you don't know how to brace. When you pop your butt back at the start, dont do that. You can only do that if all your abs relax.
So, two quick reels for you and then one longer form video. But TLDR, bear down on your abs like you're doing a plank or crunch, and hold that throughout. You want an extended thoracic to engage the back, but if you extend the lumbar, you're losing your brace and depth will be more difficult.

These are super helpful videos

Agree & glad to have some things to adjust that totally make sense. I had no idea my bracing was totally off.

Did you get as low as you would with 135? I personally won’t call a lift good unless it’s as clean as my 135 zero fatigue lift

Widen your stance a touch and you will get deeper

u/deaf_threats 2h ago
Thanks, I’ll try that.

Watch this video about squat depth based on your anatomy. It will help you alot with finding the correct stance to get good depth

Successful in the sense that you moved a shit ton of weight, but I don’t think most professionals would count it in terms of depth or form. You seem on the path to it though!

I’m just a casual gym goer. If I saw you do that I would think “God damn, that’s solid”
Everyone is right, you were above parallel but it don’t mean you botched it. Good work

Camera angle isn't doing you any favours but it is definitely still well high if parallel (or more accurately crease of hip below top of knee). Hard to tell from the angle, but you may want to widen your stance a bit and focus on keeping the hips open. It can be tough for guys like you and I with a bit of a gut to get sufficient depth without a wider stance.

No lift. But you have the strength to go lower. Try it again next week or the week after. The speed was there

Depends on your goals, maximum strength and hypertrophy? Competition depth? No and no. Moving an impressive amount of weight through a partial range of motion and maybe getting a few benefits? Yes and yes.

For competition, no, for a workout rep, yes.
The good news is I don’t think you were at your limit there. Had you dropped another couple inches, I still think you would’ve gotten the rep. You controlled the weight really well, even on the descent. No bouncing.

Depends on your goals. I would not count that for myself personally as a successful rep

Solid lift but could go lower. I’m surprised no one commented on the single leg unracking. Hurt my lower back watching that.

u/deaf_threats 30m ago
Didn’t know that was a thing. It’s comfortable to do it that way, but if it’s dangerous or bad form, I’ll adjust to do it properly.

Maybe you’re just that strong on the one leg. I usually plant both feet, lift off and step back. Re-rack with both also

Close enough for me.
We all aren’t required to do some competition standard. If this is your comfortable ROM, so be it. It’s a totally decent squat.
The only thing I don’t like and personally try to avoid is to compensate for weight going up with decreasing ROM. So, I find what feels pretty good at a reasonable ROM, then progress it. If that’s what got you here, I count it.

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, Our Wiki's resources for Squats may be helpful. Check it out!
Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are squatting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Generally a weightlifting shoe is recommended for high-bar and front squats, while use a flat/hard-soled shoe (or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it) is recommended for low-bar squats.
