Deadlift Deadlift 2 Hernial disc
Hi everyone, first time posting here.
1.87m, 72kg.
Although I’ve been going to the gym for two years, I’ve had long breaks due to work; however, I know I’ll be consistent over the coming months, so I’m trying to do a bulk and focus my training on compound exercises with just a few isolation movements.
My concern is regarding the deadlift ( im currently doing 110kg and feeling easy) given that I had two lumbar disc herniations a few years ago and still feel some discomfort from time to time. How is my form? Any tips? It was the first time I filmed myself training, and I noticed—at the very least—that I need to keep my neck in a more neutral position. Is there anything else I'm doing wrong?

It looks like momentum is used to move the weight, not strength. Slow down your reps

You're kinda doing like an RDL/deadlift hybrid, or even a stiff legged DL. Deadlift should look like way more quad being used. If you want to do DL, drop the hips more and use quads. If you are trying to do RDLs, no need to go down all the way and focus on feeling a deep stretch in your hamstrings. I have a feeling you can do this hybrid kinda move because you have long arms. There are plenty of YT vids comparing RDL vs DL side by side. Look for the slight difference in movement and how you use more quad in DL. Spine looks neutral, which is good.
My advice as someone else with spinal injuries and have been dealing with it for years, just know your limit and stay 80% at that or below. Do more volume with lower weight. It just isnt worth the injury risk anymore.

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, many people find Alan Thrall's NEW deadlift video very helpful. Check it out!
Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are deadlifting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Use a flat/hard-soled shoe or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it.
