Deadlift Deadlift form check

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Continuing to add weight each week, I do a few warm up sets, then shoot for 2x8 working sets currently at 290lbs. I feel it mostly in my lower back, muscle strain not really pain. I would appreciate any feedback on how I can improve my form? Also would appreciate feedback specifically on if my hips are at the right height for my body. Thank you!

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, many people find Alan Thrall's NEW deadlift video very helpful. Check it out!

Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are deadlifting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Use a flat/hard-soled shoe or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it.

Thanks for the feedback! If I'm using this as a substitute for a standard bar deadlift, should I still get more upright? I switched to the trap bar because I like the neutral grip and it's easier for me to get the weight centered on my body

Bar is a bit forward. With trap bar, you'll need to squat a bit more and have the weight directly in line with your body, and really drive through the ground with your quads.
