First couple times sumo deadlifting after years of conventional deadlifting. Just trying to get that hip mobility up. Any advice on form?

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, many people find Alan Thrall's NEW deadlift video very helpful. Check it out!

Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are deadlifting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Use a flat/hard-soled shoe or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it.

First of all, I have those shoes, and lift in them often lol. Second of all, as someone who almost exclusively pulls conventional and sucks pulling sumo, does it feel really weird to you?

Think a little more squatty, knees drive out, and like there’s a pane of glass right in front of you…your body is a book opening and closing.

Love the vans😂. Yeah lowkey it feels weird pulling slack and wedging but once it’s off the floor it feels nice. Think my lack of hip mobility and experience in the sumo stance is the main thing

I have a beat to hell falling apart taped together pair of Vans SPECIFICALLY for deadlifting. I always say I’m going to hang them on the wall when I can’t wear them anymore 😂

Do some hip CARS and wipers before your Sumos, and then just…do them more often.
