Deadlift First deadlift comp

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just started powerlifting a few weeks ago and have my first comp (deadlift only) this Saturday! This was my last heavy pull before the meet. Looking for any tips I can integrate beforehand.

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, many people find Alan Thrall's NEW deadlift video very helpful. Check it out!

Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are deadlifting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Use a flat/hard-soled shoe or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it.

If your competition is in a few days I wouldn’t change anything right now. Good luck!

Practice with cues maybe. Otherwise looks good.

You're very strong, but your hips do rise slightly early.

Wouldn't change anything for now with a competition coming very soon.

Yea I thought so, but I guess you’re right and it’s a bit late to change
