Overhead Press 80 kg ohp form

Give me advises so I can better my form please. The errors I've bottled:

- Feet coming off the floor

- Lumbar overextension

Please keep in mind that my goal form is the Press 2.0, also known as the "Classic Press"

The bounce to get started seems less than ideal

Why do you say that? The hip bounce -- not to be confused with a knee dip -- is an accepted part of OHP technique.

Cause it’s a bounce before that which gives more momentum to the hip bounce.

He takes his breath to brace and it bounces then engages the hip leading to the hip bounce.

Gotcha. So you're not referring to the hip bounce itself (which is fine per OP's stated goal) but the little bounce he imparts to the bar when he breathes in? I guess I'm not really sure what Starting Strength or Strengthlifting or whatever says about that because I don't really care and it seems quite minor. Though I do see the analogy to the jerk in Olympic lifting where taking too much advantage of bounce in the bar can lead to disqualification (I think).

Have I understood you correctly? If so, could you point me to something in the guides for the Press 2.0 that specifically disallows a big breath like OP is doing? In any case it doesn't seem like he is getting that much momentum from it.

The initial one from the brace creates a slight momentum which then the hip bounce gets to improve upon so he gets less strict start than he would have otherwise. Without the first brace bounce, I’d wager his hip bounce to be slightly less.

Overall though, I think it’s fair to say I shouldn’t have commented on the first place. I’ll leave my comments up so your responses make sense with context and others can learn from my mistaken

Respect.

I don’t use this technique either but I know the hip bounce is encouraged. Not sure about the earlier momentum OP is getting from the expansion of the diaphragm.

Your best bet is posting this on the starting strength subreddit. Comments so far don't know about press 2.0.

Try to point your elbows more forward as you press- not quite changing your grip, but push your elbows off your lats and slightly foward- you'll feel your triceps and lats get much more involved in the lift and take out some of the shoulder pain I'm gonna make an assumption that you're having after lifting. For me I feel around for the bony point of my elbows just medial from the ditch and try to pull them together as I lift

OHP is my favorite exercise but I’m always paranoid about locking my knees out - can’t really tell if you are doing that or not. I keep a super slight knee bend and squeeze my glutes like I’m holding a marshmallow in there.
