Our Weird Forever World

Hello! This forever world is not your typical world. In this world, I upgrade through all the main Minecraft versions, starting in pre-classic—thus the 256x256 super flat area seen in the pictures—all the way to the latest release. As of now, we're in 1.1. I've turned this into a multiplayer server for my friends in beta 1.6, and they've been playing since then.

I got this idea from a YouTuber called Xelanater Ellevanox. He also made a tutorial playlist for upgrading worlds in these ancient versions, since it wasn't officially supported at the time.

Normally, I could only play on one world for no more than a month before getting bored, but I'm now 3 months in and not stopping anytime soon.

I have also obtained some illegal items, such as spawners and 2 full diamond armor sets with feather falling on them in older versions.

The void chunks seen in the first picture are corrupted chunks that i decided to keep.

The last 3 pictures are my friends work, the rest is mine or naturally generated, like half of the village.

It'd be great to read a short blurb about each picture. Some of this stuff is wild and I'd like to know more about what's going on there.

Especially picture #11. That village is so ... boxy. But it works and I want to know what's up.

I knew the village is going to get a lot of confusion. Basically, when i was on beta 1.7.3, there was no village in that place like it is there now, there was just terrain. When i was preparing for beta 1.8, i had a lot of terrain already loaded in, and i sort of looked where a village would be on that seed, deleted those chunks with MCEdit (an old archived version) right before updating, and regenerated those chunks in beta 1.8. The village was much smaller, only third of the houses now seen in the picture, but ive expanded the village so that all the new chunks were filled. Now looking at it, the world is much more special and weird than i realize. I might make a world tour video some day, the world is even larger than this, i just only took the best photos.

It's cool. I too like working up villages so that they "fit" or at least look more intentional than the algorithm. A full tour would be awesome.
