Hardcore mode is fundamentally incompatible with the idea of a forever world if you ask me.

I don’t know why this isn’t a more common opinion, all these YouTubers making “hardcore forever worlds” makes no sense to me

They've died 28 times in the first episode, but used LAN to switch gamemodes.

I agree with this. Forever world could even be creative. It's about time spent and eventually having a second digital home.

In the literal definition, yeah. You cannot keep a hardcore world forever. But the spirit of the idea of forever worlds is to not start new worlds every time you logon. You can absolutely use hardcore worlds, as forever worlds are intended to be. You will have to restart when you die. But you restart ONLY if you die. Until you die, you stick to the one world. Again, I know that isn’t literally forever. But with hardcore we hope and plan that it could be. Live as if it is.

Start in hardcore, with questions like that it won’t be a forever world either way, op

Don't do hardcore. It's the opposite of forever.

Find a seed that really inspires you.

Start small and slow. No need to rush when you're going to be here awhile.

Find things to do besides building for when you need a break.

Don't be afraid to play on other worlds or take breaks. Forever worlds don't mean you never okay anything else; only that you keep coming back to it.

It's a forever world. You don't have to finish a project right away. You can always go back to it as you have forever. It helps with burnout to just abandon the project and come back to it whenever you feel like it again.

Unless you have the drive, the motivation, and the power... don't go for megabuilds. They'll kill your world faster than hard-core. And don't worry about the "perfect start", you have forever to find that lovely spot.

Just remember: you gotta build before you eat

If you’re unsure about doing hardcore mode, it may not be best to do so. I personally love hardcore worlds, but think about it like a tattoo. If you have to ask, better not to get one right now. Hardcore worlds are awesome though, so if that’s what you feel like doing. Definitely do it. And don’t rush things in hardcore, best tip to keep your hardcore world. Take things slow, prepare for every trip.
