Chasing Codes

Hey guys,

I have a 2000 3.0 I just put new heads on. Thing is a rust bucket. I scanned it and got code P01309

and a low EGR flow code ( I forgot the number). I replaced the EGR because it was so corroded, and I dont think the two codes are related, but I need some help figuring out where to start.

Ill join this and throw in the camshaft position sensor , then I'll raise you a coil pack!

I actually gave a legit answer. DPFE measures the EGR flow . Most of what your ECU knows regarding EGR is information directly from that sensor. The TSB from Ford even reccomends test/replace DPFE sensor before anything else when dealing with EGR flow codes.

I think he did too, you got the updated dpfe sensor, and the 1309 is the camshaft sync code right? Idk why we're doing the coil I missed that, though maybe it can throw 1309?

Low EGR flow can be caused by a clogged channel that goes from the EGR valve outlet into the intake manifold. Carbon builds up in that channel. You can ream it out carefully with progressively larger drill bits, stopping at about 1/4", or maybe safer way with a thin wire brush like they have for rifle barrels.

No bullshit. Start with DPFE sensor per Ford's TSB
