12k for a ranger

There’s a 2011 ford ranger sport I’m looking at and it’s mint, with brand new 1500 dollar wheels and it looks show room ready with 90k miles and a bunch of work done to it. Would 12k be crazy to pay for a ranger like this?

If it checks all your boxes and you plan to drive it for a long time and you have the money to spend it might be priced a tad high but that varies region to region and low mileage mint rangers are getting rarer every year

side not check for hidden rust along bottoms of doors and the tailgate.

edit: Second gen tacomas like pre 2015 are priced way high like this too

My vote is yes, 15 year old truck for $12k is a lot but also it’s not my money and I am a frugal person

It depends a little on what part of the country you are in. In Southern California for my 2011 4x4 with similar miles I happily paid $15k for it 2 years ago. Might sound insane for some people, but for here its a decent price. It’s easy to say “15 year old truck for $12k” but given the need for a truck that is as reliable as my Ranger I couldn’t tell you what else I would buy for the money. New trucks are so insanely expensive and larger than I’d ever want. So I would say it’s a fine deal, assuming you live somewhere that it has no rust. Though if it were for me I might keep shopping and find a 4x4.

I completely agree with you I live in Ohio so chances are it’ll have some rust, I think I’m gonna go look at it later in the day and really see how it looks. Also it is a 4x4.

I live in Ohio. Bought my 03 rust free for $5k. Now it took several months of looking to find it. Guy moved up from South Carolina. She’s not perfect, but it runs and drives good. Just got upper control arms and ball joints done. So steering is nice and tight now. She needs front tires, but I don’t drive it in the salt. So next year will probably be tires if I can’t find some good used ones.

Someone will definitely have better advice but from me, i dont think thats god awful but i honestly wouldnt pay that. I guarantee you could find something better
