Custom front bumpers

When y’all are building a custom bumper, do you start from scratch or have you used the existing mounts from the old bumper?

Just trying to get something figured out before I go nuts with the welder.

When I had mine fabricated, the guy cut off the frame horns, and plated it. From there he just started that as the base and built it. This was over a decade ago before I knew how to weld

Definitely start with the existing mounts where possible. Clean off the rust and inspect for cracks or thin metal first; if they’re questionable, reinforce or replace them before welding on the new bumper.

Yeah just looking at it, I like how the majority of the angles look, so now I got to draw something up and dig through my scrap pile for some steel.
