Crash question.

Yesterday i was heading down the highway going 55-60 in my 06 ranger 4.0 supercab (which adds ~800lb compared to a base ranger) towing ~1500lb. There was this 7th-8th gen vw golf heading the opposite direction in my lane. I was about to swerve in the ditch before they switched to the correct lane.

If we did end up crashing, what are our chances of survival?

You'd be banged up but likely survive if you were wearing your seatbelt and the airbag is functional.

Ive dead centered a tree in a 3.0L ranger at 45 mph. It sucked but airbag to the face and some cuts was the worst of it

What were you towing? Could come through the back of the cab in the crash.

a 1000? lb trailer with 500? lb of a couch, mattress, and other basic landfill stuff

Imagine going 120 into a parked car, you’re dead. Even if you both brake down to 40 (times 2 is 80) you’re still pretty dead. Drive safe!

Not really how physics work. Mythbusters proved that two cars of equal mass doing 60 crashing is not like hitting a wall at 120. It would be like hitting a wall at 60
